President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi met today with Rodolphe Saadé, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the French company CMA-CGM, on the sidelines of the Africa-France Summit held in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi.
Investment cooperation between Egypt and the company

The official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic stated that the President welcomed the existing investment cooperation between Egypt and the company, which is one of the largest global companies in the field of container transport and maritime shipping, appreciating its efforts in implementing multiple projects within Egypt in the maritime and dry ports sector.

The President emphasized in particular the prominent role of the company in establishing and operating the first semi-automated container terminal in Egypt, the “Red Sea Container Terminal” at the port of Sokhna, stressing Egypt’s aspiration to enhance the company’s business and investments, especially in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, to benefit from the new investment incentives provided by the state, as well as the great development witnessed by the maritime transport sector and infrastructure in Egypt.
Ambassador Mohamed El Shenawy, the official spokesperson, added that Rudolf Saadeh expressed his gratitude for meeting the President, stressing CMA-CGM’s keenness to strengthen its presence in Egypt and benefit from its strategic location and the remarkable development it has achieved in maritime transport and shipping capabilities and related logistics services.
Discussing the implications of current regional tensions on shipping routes
The official spokesperson explained that the meeting addressed the repercussions of the current regional tensions on maritime navigation routes, where the President reviewed the Egyptian vision that calls for the need for the parties of the international maritime shipping system to join forces to address bottlenecks and reduce their impact on global trade and the stability of supply chains, especially in the fields of energy and food security.
The meeting discussed ways to intensify cooperation to enhance economic integration and trade exchange between Egypt and African countries, and to support maritime connectivity with them.
The leaders participating in the Africa-France summit, hosted by the Kenyan capital, began arriving on Tuesday morning. NairobiWith broad participation from African heads of state and government, along with French President Emmanuel Macron, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the Chairperson of the African Union, and a number of leaders of international financial institutions and development partners.
