Au milieu des plaines recul\u00e9es du sud-ouest Ethiopie<\/a>La tribu Mursi vit dans l'une des communaut\u00e9s les plus fascinantes au monde, o\u00f9 ses femmes perp\u00e9tuent une tradition ancienne et \u00e9trange consistant \u00e0 porter des \u201c plateaux labiaux \u201d, une coutume devenue un symbole culturel refl\u00e9tant l'identit\u00e9 et le statut social au sein de la tribu.<\/p>\n

Une phase de transition vers la f\u00e9minit\u00e9<\/h2>\n

D\u2019apr\u00e8s des rapports publi\u00e9s par l\u2019UNESCO et des \u00e9tudes scientifiques sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9es dans les cultures d\u2019Afrique de l\u2019Est, les filles de la tribu Mursi commencent g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement ce rituel entre quinze et seize ans.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Une petite fente dans la l\u00e8vre inf\u00e9rieure de la fillette<\/h2>\n

La m\u00e8re ou une femme \u00e2g\u00e9e de la tribu pratique une petite incision dans la l\u00e8vre inf\u00e9rieure de la fille, puis un petit morceau de bois y est plac\u00e9, avant d'\u00eatre progressivement remplac\u00e9 par un plus grand sur plusieurs mois, jusqu'\u00e0 ce que la l\u00e8vre soit suffisamment \u00e9tir\u00e9e pour accueillir la fameuse \u201c plaque labiale \u201d.<\/p>\n
