Le scandale \u201c Farmgate \u201d d\u00e9signe l'affaire du vol de devises \u00e9trang\u00e8res survenu en 2020 dans la ferme priv\u00e9e du pr\u00e9sident sud-africain Cyril Ramaphosa, situ\u00e9e dans la r\u00e9gion de Vala Vala. Un ancien agent des services de renseignement avait r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 que d'importantes sommes d'argent \u00e9taient dissimul\u00e9es dans un canap\u00e9. Lundi, Ramaphosa a fait face \u00e0 des appels \u00e0 la d\u00e9mission suite \u00e0 son implication dans le vol de devises \u00e9trang\u00e8res dissimul\u00e9es dans un canap\u00e9 de sa ferme en 2020, une affaire connue sous le nom de scandale \u201c Farmgate \u201d.<\/p>\n

En 2022, le Congr\u00e8s national africain a bloqu\u00e9 la proc\u00e9dure de destitution par un vote au Parlement, mais la Cour constitutionnelle a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 vendredi dernier que le vote \u00e9tait invalide et que les all\u00e9gations de vol devaient faire l'objet d'une enqu\u00eate plus approfondie.<\/p>\n

Ramaphosa, pr\u00e9sident depuis 2018, a ni\u00e9 toute malversation.<\/p>\n

Il a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que des voleurs avaient d\u00e9rob\u00e9 580\u00a0000 dollars sur un canap\u00e9 de son ranch de chasse de Valla Valla en 2020, bien qu\u2019un ancien responsable du renseignement ait affirm\u00e9 que le montant vol\u00e9 s\u2019\u00e9levait \u00e0 au moins 4 millions de dollars.<\/p>\n

Ce vol a soulev\u00e9 des questions sur la fa\u00e7on dont Ramaphosa s'est procur\u00e9 tout cet argent, s'il l'avait d\u00e9clar\u00e9 et pourquoi il l'avait dissimul\u00e9 dans des meubles au lieu de le d\u00e9poser \u00e0 la banque.<\/p>\n

Ramaphosa, un riche homme d'affaires avant de devenir pr\u00e9sident, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que cette somme repr\u00e9sentait le produit de la vente de buffles.<\/p>\n

Une enqu\u00eate men\u00e9e par la banque centrale a conclu qu'il n'avait pas enfreint la r\u00e9glementation sur le contr\u00f4le des changes.<\/p>\n

Une motion de destitution contre le pr\u00e9sident requiert une majorit\u00e9 des deux tiers pour \u00eatre adopt\u00e9e, et bien que le Congr\u00e8s national africain ait perdu sa majorit\u00e9 parlementaire lors des \u00e9lections de 2024, il d\u00e9tient toujours environ 40 % des si\u00e8ges \u00e0 l'Assembl\u00e9e nationale.<\/p>\n
