Au Kenya, certaines familles ont recours \u00e0 des pleureuses professionnelles pour offrir \u00e0 leurs proches des adieux dignes de ce nom.<\/p>\n

Dans la ville lacustre de Rapor, \u00e0 Kisumu, les personnes en deuil jettent un dernier regard \u00e0 leur \u00eatre cher disparu.<\/p>\n

Pleurer les morts pour de l'argent<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mais tous ceux qui pleurent les morts ne sont pas des proches ou des amis ; certains sont de parfaits inconnus qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 pay\u00e9s pour participer au deuil.<\/p>\n

Les fun\u00e9railles dans l'ouest du Kenya font partie int\u00e9grante de la culture, et les pleureuses professionnelles sont tr\u00e8s r\u00e9pandues dans la communaut\u00e9 Luo.<\/p>\n

Victor Oma, pleureur professionnel, affirme que ce m\u00e9tier constitue une source de revenus honn\u00eate dans un pays o\u00f9 les opportunit\u00e9s d'emploi sont rares.<\/p>\n

Il ajoute\u00a0: \u201c\u00a0Il est difficile de trouver du travail au Kenya, mais nous avons d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de profiter des fun\u00e9railles, \u00e9tant donn\u00e9 leur fr\u00e9quence. Nous pensions que ce serait une excellente occasion de gagner notre vie loin de la criminalit\u00e9 et du ch\u00f4mage.\u00a0\u201d.<\/p>\n

Les pleureuses engag\u00e9es commencent leur travail d\u00e8s que le corps quitte la morgue.<\/p>\n

Ils g\u00e9missent et chantent des \u00e9l\u00e9gies jusqu'\u00e0 ce que le corps soit enterr\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Ils fonctionnent comme une organisation et leurs services comprennent la fourniture de nourriture et de tentes, ainsi que l'accompagnement des personnes en deuil.<\/p>\n

Le besoin d'argent<\/h3>\n

\u201c Parfois, une personne n'a pas de famille, mais poss\u00e8de des ressources financi\u00e8res, et a au moins besoin de quelqu'un pour la soutenir et la r\u00e9conforter, afin qu'elle puisse faire ses adieux dignement \u00e0 son \u00eatre cher \u201d, explique Francis Oyo, un accompagnateur de deuil professionnel. \u00ab On arrive \u00e0 un point o\u00f9 l'on a besoin de professionnels du soutien \u00e9motionnel, et c'est l\u00e0 que nous intervenons. \u00bb.<\/p>\n

Pour Georgina Aching, la ni\u00e8ce du d\u00e9funt, la pr\u00e9sence de pleureuses professionnelles \u00e9tait essentielle car son oncle n'avait pas de famille proche.<\/p>\n

Elle explique\u00a0: \u201c\u00a0Dans notre culture, en tant que peuple Luo, nous croyons que si une personne d\u00e9c\u00e8de sans recevoir d\u2019adieu digne de ce nom, son esprit risque de rester prisonnier et de hanter certaines personnes, comme des enfants ou m\u00eame des membres de sa famille. C\u2019est pourquoi, si on lui offre des adieux appropri\u00e9s, nous croyons que son esprit sera en paix.\u00a0\u201d.<\/p>\n

Le cort\u00e8ge fun\u00e9raire imposant est per\u00e7u comme un symbole de statut social au sein de la communaut\u00e9 Luo.<\/p>\n

Avant les fun\u00e9railles, les personnes ayant pay\u00e9 pour les obs\u00e8ques sont inform\u00e9es des d\u00e9tails de la vie du d\u00e9funt.<\/p>\n

Pour les participants, les \u00e9motions circulent facilement.<\/p>\n

Willis Omondi, directeur d'une entreprise de soutien aux familles endeuill\u00e9es, explique\u00a0: \u201c\u00a0Il n'est pas n\u00e9cessaire d'avoir un lien de parent\u00e9 avec le d\u00e9funt. Il suffit de ressentir sa mort pour que les larmes nous montent aux yeux. On se demande alors\u00a0: et s'il avait \u00e9t\u00e9 de la famille\u00a0? C'est ainsi que l'on peut faire son deuil d'une personne qui n'a aucun lien de parent\u00e9 avec nous.\u00a0\u201d.<\/p>\n

Les experts soulignent une demande croissante de pleureuses professionnelles, refl\u00e9tant des changements soci\u00e9taux plus larges au Kenya.<\/p>\n

Peu de parents<\/h3>\n
