L'Afrique australe conna\u00eet une nouvelle initiative visant \u00e0 renforcer les infrastructures r\u00e9gionales, avec le lancement du projet de chemin de fer trans-Kalahari, l'un des projets strat\u00e9giques les plus importants destin\u00e9s \u00e0 relier le Botswana aux ports maritimes de Namibie, ouvrant ainsi de plus larges perspectives d'int\u00e9gration \u00e9conomique et commerciale entre les pays de la r\u00e9gion.<\/p>\n

Un projet ferroviaire pour r\u00e9duire les co\u00fbts de transport<\/h1>\n

Le projet est g\u00e9r\u00e9 conjointement au niveau minist\u00e9riel par le ministre des Travaux publics et des Transports de la R\u00e9publique de Namibie, Feiko Nikende, et le ministre des Transports et des Infrastructures de la R\u00e9publique du Botswana, Noah Salakai, dans le cadre d'une coordination gouvernementale qui t\u00e9moigne de l'importance du projet pour les deux parties.<\/p>\n

Ce projet vise \u00e0 cr\u00e9er un corridor ferroviaire direct reliant l'int\u00e9rieur du Botswana au port de Walvis Bay sur l'oc\u00e9an Atlantique, ce qui dynamiserait le commerce r\u00e9gional et faciliterait les op\u00e9rations de transport et de logistique, tout en soutenant les efforts d'int\u00e9gration \u00e9conomique entre les pays d'Afrique australe.<\/p>\n

D'apr\u00e8s les responsables du projet, la nouvelle ligne ferroviaire facilitera le transport de marchandises lourdes et de produits strat\u00e9giques, notamment le charbon, le cuivre et les produits agricoles, qui figurent parmi les principales exportations de la r\u00e9gion. Ce projet devrait \u00e9galement permettre de r\u00e9duire directement les co\u00fbts et les d\u00e9lais de transport entre les zones de production, les march\u00e9s et les ports, par rapport aux modes de transport routier traditionnels.<\/p>\n

Les observateurs estiment que ce projet repr\u00e9sente une \u00e9tape cruciale pour am\u00e9liorer l'efficacit\u00e9 des cha\u00eenes d'approvisionnement dans la r\u00e9gion, notamment compte tenu des d\u00e9fis auxquels sont confront\u00e9es les infrastructures de transport dans un certain nombre de pays africains enclav\u00e9s, en particulier le Botswana.<\/p>\n
