Le roi Mswati III du royaume d'Eswatini f\u00eatera dans deux semaines ses 40 ans de r\u00e8gne, ce qui consolidera son statut de l'un des souverains ayant r\u00e9gn\u00e9 le plus longtemps en Afrique.<\/p>\n

Depuis son accession au tr\u00f4ne en 1986 \u00e0 l'\u00e2ge de dix-huit ans, alors qu'il \u00e9tait le plus jeune monarque couronn\u00e9 au monde, les controverses n'ont cess\u00e9 de se multiplier concernant son mode de vie et sa politique de gouvernement.<\/p>\n

La richesse royale face aux d\u00e9fis \u00e9conomiques\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

Mswati III figure parmi les rois les plus riches d'Afrique, sa fortune personnelle \u00e9tant estim\u00e9e \u00e0 plus de 300 millions de dollars selon le magazine Forbes.<\/p>\n

Cette richesse est manifeste dans l'acquisition de ses avions priv\u00e9s, dont un \u201c DC-9 \u201d qui lui a \u00e9t\u00e9 offert pour son 44e anniversaire, afin de faciliter les d\u00e9placements de sa nombreuse famille.<\/p>\n

En revanche, les chiffres \u00e9conomiques du Royaume d'Eswatini dressent un tableau diff\u00e9rent\u00a0: tandis que le palais jouit du luxe, plus de la moiti\u00e9 de la population vit en dessous du seuil de pauvret\u00e9 national.<\/p>\n

Les statistiques publi\u00e9es en 2024 r\u00e9v\u00e8lent que la part par habitant du produit int\u00e9rieur brut ne d\u00e9passe pas 3 898 $, avec des taux de ch\u00f4mage parmi les jeunes (15-25 ans) atteignant un taux catastrophique de 56%.<\/p>\n

Mari\u00e9 \u00e0 14 femmes\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

La monarchie est en proie \u00e0 de nombreuses critiques concernant les droits humains, notamment ceux des femmes. Selon plusieurs sources, le cas de Lamahalango, enlev\u00e9e de force pour devenir l'\u00e9pouse du roi, est l'une des crises les plus marquantes et a suscit\u00e9 l'indignation internationale.<\/p>\n

Le roi respecte la tradition annuelle de l'Umhlanga, la \u201c danse des cannes \u201d, une immense c\u00e9l\u00e9bration de huit jours impliquant des dizaines de milliers de femmes, au cours de laquelle le roi choisit une nouvelle \u00e9pouse.<\/p>\n

En 2024, le roi a choisi sa quatorzi\u00e8me \u00e9pouse, Sevil Mashuam, \u00e2g\u00e9e de 19 ans, malgr\u00e9 les restrictions strictes impos\u00e9es aux \u00e9pouses du roi au sein de la monarchie.<\/p>\n
