Alors que la R\u00e9publique d\u00e9mocratique du Congo lutte pour contenir l'\u00e9pid\u00e9mie d'Ebola, le secteur de la sant\u00e9 est confront\u00e9 \u00e0 un autre d\u00e9fi tout aussi grave\u00a0: les femmes enceintes h\u00e9sitent \u00e0 se rendre dans les h\u00f4pitaux et les centres de sant\u00e9 par crainte de contracter le virus.<\/p>\n

Cette situation suscite des inqui\u00e9tudes croissantes parmi les professionnels de la sant\u00e9 quant \u00e0 l'augmentation des taux de mortalit\u00e9 maternelle et infantile dus aux accouchements ayant lieu hors des \u00e9tablissements m\u00e9dicaux.<\/p>\n

Les m\u00e9decins et les professionnels de la sant\u00e9 reproductive confirment que l'anxi\u00e9t\u00e9 croissante au sein de la population a conduit de nombreuses femmes \u00e0 \u00e9viter les h\u00f4pitaux, m\u00eame en cas de grossesse \u00e0 haut risque, les privant ainsi des soins m\u00e9dicaux n\u00e9cessaires pendant la grossesse et l'accouchement.<\/p>\n

Ebola aggrave les risques li\u00e9s \u00e0 la grossesse et \u00e0 l'accouchement<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Selon les organisations internationales de sant\u00e9, contracter le virus Ebola pendant la grossesse comporte des risques extr\u00eamement \u00e9lev\u00e9s pour la vie de la m\u00e8re et du f\u0153tus, car cela peut entra\u00eener des saignements importants et des complications graves pouvant aboutir \u00e0 la perte du f\u0153tus ou au d\u00e9c\u00e8s de la m\u00e8re.<\/p>\n

Accoucher en dehors des \u00e9tablissements de sant\u00e9 r\u00e9duit \u00e9galement les chances d'une intervention m\u00e9dicale rapide en cas de complications urgentes.<\/p>\n

Les experts de la sant\u00e9 avertissent que la peur de l'infection pourrait inciter les femmes \u00e0 accoucher \u00e0 domicile ou \u00e0 solliciter l'aide de gu\u00e9risseurs traditionnels, ce qui accro\u00eet les risques sanitaires et rend difficile pour les autorit\u00e9s le suivi des cas et la fourniture de soins appropri\u00e9s.<\/p>\n

La propagation rapide de l'\u00e9pid\u00e9mie met \u00e0 rude \u00e9preuve le syst\u00e8me de sant\u00e9.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

La R\u00e9publique d\u00e9mocratique du Congo est confront\u00e9e depuis des semaines \u00e0 une \u00e9pid\u00e9mie de plus en plus grave d'une souche rare du virus Ebola, alors que des avertissements circulent quant \u00e0 la possibilit\u00e9 que la maladie se propage \u00e0 de nouvelles r\u00e9gions.<\/p>\n

Les rapports indiquent que des centaines de bless\u00e9s et de morts ont \u00e9t\u00e9 enregistr\u00e9s depuis le d\u00e9but de la crise, tandis que les \u00e9tablissements de sant\u00e9 souffrent d'un manque d'\u00e9quipement, de personnel et de financement n\u00e9cessaires \u00e0 une r\u00e9ponse efficace.<\/p>\n

La situation s\u00e9curitaire complexe, les d\u00e9placements de population et la faiblesse des infrastructures ont rendu difficile le confinement de l'\u00e9pid\u00e9mie, notamment dans les zones rurales et les camps de personnes d\u00e9plac\u00e9es \u00e0 forte densit\u00e9 de population.<\/p>\n

La perte de confiance complique les efforts de r\u00e9ponse.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Les professionnels de la sant\u00e9 affirment que la peur, les rumeurs et le manque de confiance envers les institutions m\u00e9dicales sont devenus des obstacles majeurs \u00e0 la lutte contre la maladie.<\/p>\n

Dans certaines r\u00e9gions, des incidents de rejet des mesures sanitaires ou d'opposition aux proc\u00e9dures d'inhumation s\u00e9curis\u00e9es ont \u00e9t\u00e9 constat\u00e9s, et certains centres de sant\u00e9 ont m\u00eame \u00e9t\u00e9 attaqu\u00e9s par des habitants en col\u00e8re, ce qui a affect\u00e9 les efforts de lutte contre la pand\u00e9mie.<\/p>\n

Les experts soulignent que le r\u00e9tablissement de la confiance des communaut\u00e9s locales est un \u00e9l\u00e9ment cl\u00e9 pour faire face \u00e0 la crise, en intensifiant les campagnes de sensibilisation et en impliquant les chefs communautaires et religieux dans la diffusion d'informations exactes sur la maladie et les moyens de la pr\u00e9venir.<\/p>\n
