Le pr\u00e9sident de la R\u00e9publique a confirm\u00e9 Namibie<\/a>La docteure Ntumbo Nandi-Ndaitwa a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que le 50e anniversaire du soul\u00e8vement de Soweto repr\u00e9sente une \u00e9tape historique pour s'inspirer des valeurs de lutte, de libert\u00e9 et de justice, et pour renouveler l'engagement \u00e0 prot\u00e9ger et \u00e0 promouvoir les droits des enfants sur tout le continent africain.<\/p>\n

Dans un message marquant la Journ\u00e9e internationale de l'enfant africain, le 16 juin 2026, le pr\u00e9sident de la Namibie a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que les sacrifices des enfants de Soweto en 1976 ont marqu\u00e9 un tournant dans l'histoire de l'Afrique moderne, apr\u00e8s que les \u00e9tudiants ont courageusement affront\u00e9 le r\u00e9gime d'apartheid pour d\u00e9fendre leur droit \u00e0 l'\u00e9ducation, \u00e0 la dignit\u00e9 et \u00e0 l'\u00e9galit\u00e9 des chances.<\/p>\n

Le 16 juin 1976, la ville de Soweto fut le th\u00e9\u00e2tre d'un soul\u00e8vement \u00e9tudiant historique en Afrique du Sud, au cours duquel des milliers d'\u00e9tudiants noirs protest\u00e8rent contre le syst\u00e8me \u00e9ducatif raciste et l'obligation d'\u00e9tudier en afrikaans. La police r\u00e9prima violemment les manifestations pacifiques \u00e0 coups de balles, entra\u00eenant la mort de centaines d'enfants, dont Hector Peterson, et marquant un tournant dans la chute du syst\u00e8me d'apartheid.<\/p>\n

Elle a soulign\u00e9 que les manifestations de Soweto ne constituaient pas seulement une objection aux politiques \u00e9ducatives, mais un rejet d'un syst\u00e8me qui cherchait \u00e0 restreindre les ambitions des enfants et \u00e0 les priver de leur droit de fa\u00e7onner leur avenir, insistant sur le fait que le courage de ces enfants avait inspir\u00e9 des mouvements de lib\u00e9ration \u00e0 travers le continent, notamment la lutte de la Namibie pour l'ind\u00e9pendance.<\/p>\n

Elle a ajout\u00e9 que les sacrifices consentis par les enfants de Soweto ont contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 ouvrir la voie aux g\u00e9n\u00e9rations actuelles pour b\u00e9n\u00e9ficier de plus larges opportunit\u00e9s en mati\u00e8re d'\u00e9ducation et de d\u00e9veloppement, soulignant que les enfants africains d'aujourd'hui ont le droit de r\u00eaver, d'aspirer et de s'efforcer d'atteindre leurs objectifs dans divers domaines, des sciences, de la m\u00e9decine et de l'ing\u00e9nierie \u00e0 l'entrepreneuriat, aux arts et au leadership.<\/p>\n

Elle a expliqu\u00e9 que la c\u00e9l\u00e9bration de la Journ\u00e9e de l'enfant africain cette ann\u00e9e s'inscrit sous le slogan \u00ab Garantir \u00e0 chaque enfant en Afrique l'acc\u00e8s \u00e0 l'eau, \u00e0 l'assainissement et \u00e0 l'hygi\u00e8ne \u00bb, ce qui refl\u00e8te l'importance de fournir des services de base qui repr\u00e9sentent un droit humain inh\u00e9rent et un pilier fondamental de la sant\u00e9, de l'\u00e9ducation et du d\u00e9veloppement durable.<\/p>\n

Elle a \u00e9galement appel\u00e9 \u00e0 intensifier les efforts pour relever les d\u00e9fis qui continuent de menacer les enfants sur le continent, notamment la violence, l'exploitation, la n\u00e9gligence et les mauvais traitements, soulignant que la protection des enfants est une responsabilit\u00e9 partag\u00e9e qui incombe aux familles, aux communaut\u00e9s, aux institutions \u00e9ducatives et religieuses, aux organisations de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 civile et aux gouvernements.<\/p>\n

La pr\u00e9sidente namibienne a soulign\u00e9 qu'investir dans les enfants est un investissement direct dans l'avenir de l'Afrique, notant que depuis son ind\u00e9pendance, son pays n'a cess\u00e9 de promouvoir l'\u00e9ducation, les soins de sant\u00e9 et la protection sociale des enfants, tout en soutenant l'enseignement sup\u00e9rieur et en donnant aux jeunes les moyens d'acqu\u00e9rir les comp\u00e9tences et les connaissances n\u00e9cessaires pour participer activement au d\u00e9veloppement national.<\/p>\n
