Lam Akol Ajawin est l'une des figures politiques les plus importantes du Soudan du Sud, ayant combin\u00e9 travail universitaire, activisme politique et participation \u00e0 des mouvements arm\u00e9s, avant d'occuper des postes gouvernementaux de haut rang au Soudan et au Soudan du Sud.<\/p>\n

Pendant des d\u00e9cennies, son nom est rest\u00e9 pr\u00e9sent sur la sc\u00e8ne politique en raison de l'\u00e9volution de ses positions et de ses alliances, ainsi que de son r\u00f4le dans les questions de paix et de gouvernance.<\/p>\n

D\u00e9but de vie et carri\u00e8re universitaire<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Lam Akol est n\u00e9 en 1950 \u00e0 Fangak, dans l'\u00c9tat de Jonglei, et appartient \u00e0 l'ethnie Shilluk, l'un des plus importants groupes ethniques du Soudan du Sud. Il a effectu\u00e9 sa scolarit\u00e9 primaire au Soudan du Sud avant d'int\u00e9grer l'universit\u00e9 de Khartoum, o\u00f9 il a \u00e9tudi\u00e9 le g\u00e9nie chimique.<\/p>\n

Akol a poursuivi sa carri\u00e8re universitaire hors du Soudan, obtenant un doctorat en g\u00e9nie chimique d'une universit\u00e9 britannique, avant de travailler comme professeur d'universit\u00e9 et chercheur, ce qui lui a valu une r\u00e9putation scientifique distingu\u00e9e avant d'entrer dans le monde politique.<\/p>\n

Rejoindre le mouvement populaire<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Dans les ann\u00e9es 1980, Lam Akol a rejoint le Mouvement populaire de lib\u00e9ration du Soudan (SPLM) dirig\u00e9 par John Garang, qui combattait alors le gouvernement soudanais. Durant la guerre civile, il a jou\u00e9 un r\u00f4le politique et militaire important au sein du mouvement.<\/p>\n

En 1991, il a rejoint Riek Machar lors de la fameuse scission du SPLM, connue sous le nom de \u201d scission de Nasir \u201d, un \u00e9v\u00e9nement qui a marqu\u00e9 un tournant important dans l'histoire du conflit au Sud-Soudan et a influenc\u00e9 le cours de la guerre civile pendant de nombreuses ann\u00e9es.<\/p>\n

Apr\u00e8s la signature de l'Accord de paix global en 2005 entre le gouvernement soudanais et le SPLM, Lam Akol est revenu sur la sc\u00e8ne politique officielle et a occup\u00e9 le poste de ministre des Affaires \u00e9trang\u00e8res du Soudan entre 2005 et 2007.<\/p>\n

Durant son mandat de ministre, il a dirig\u00e9 la diplomatie soudanaise \u00e0 travers une p\u00e9riode d\u00e9licate marqu\u00e9e par d'importants d\u00e9veloppements politiques, notamment la mise en \u0153uvre de l'accord de paix et les pr\u00e9paratifs relatifs \u00e0 l'avenir du Sud-Soudan.<\/p>\n

Fondation du Parti du changement d\u00e9mocratique<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Apr\u00e8s l\u2019ind\u00e9pendance du Soudan du Sud en 2011, Lam Akol a fond\u00e9 le Mouvement populaire de lib\u00e9ration du Soudan-Changement d\u00e9mocratique, qui est devenu par la suite l\u2019un des principaux partis d\u2019opposition du pays.<\/p>\n

Akol \u00e9tait connu pour ses critiques des gouvernements successifs de Juba, son appel au renforcement de la d\u00e9mocratie, au dialogue politique et \u00e0 la r\u00e9forme institutionnelle, ainsi que pour sa participation \u00e0 de nombreuses initiatives visant \u00e0 mettre fin aux conflits internes et \u00e0 parvenir \u00e0 la r\u00e9conciliation nationale.<\/p>\n

Un r\u00f4le dans les efforts de paix<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Durant les ann\u00e9es de guerre civile au Soudan du Sud, Lam Akol a jou\u00e9 de multiples r\u00f4les politiques au sein des processus de dialogue et de n\u00e9gociation entre les parties bellig\u00e9rantes. Il a \u00e9galement particip\u00e9 aux discussions relatives \u00e0 la mise en \u0153uvre des accords de paix et \u00e0 la reconstruction des institutions \u00e9tatiques.<\/p>\n

Ses partisans le consid\u00e8rent comme l'un des hommes politiques du Sud les plus en vue, dot\u00e9 d'une vaste exp\u00e9rience en mati\u00e8re de n\u00e9gociation et de diplomatie, tandis que ses d\u00e9tracteurs estiment que ses nombreuses alliances politiques, parfois changeantes, ont affect\u00e9 sa popularit\u00e9 \u00e0 certains moments.<\/p>\n

Une figure influente de la sc\u00e8ne politique<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n
