Burkina Faso<\/strong><\/a>Jeudi dernier, une sc\u00e8ne insolite s'est d\u00e9roul\u00e9e lorsqu'un \u00e9l\u00e9phant solitaire a bloqu\u00e9 la circulation puis renvers\u00e9 un camion charg\u00e9 de ma\u00efs pour en manger la cargaison, selon des t\u00e9moins oculaires.<\/p>\n

Il a quitt\u00e9 une r\u00e9serve naturelle et provoqu\u00e9 des perturbations de la circulation.<\/h2>\n

L'incident s'est produit en plein jour entre les villes de Baburu et Buruma, et aucun bless\u00e9 n'a \u00e9t\u00e9 signal\u00e9.<\/p>\n

L'animal a surgi soudainement de la for\u00eat de Dos Bali, une r\u00e9serve naturelle bordant la route. Un t\u00e9moin oculaire nomm\u00e9 Abdullah Bakayoko a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 \u00e0 l'agence de presse AIB\u00a0:<\/p>\n

L'\u00e9l\u00e9phant se trouvait au milieu de la route, dominant tous les v\u00e9hicules, et les passagers \u00e9taient partag\u00e9s entre la curiosit\u00e9 de le voir de pr\u00e8s et la peur d'une attaque.<\/p>\n

Apr\u00e8s avoir perturb\u00e9 la circulation pendant plusieurs minutes en se faufilant entre les voitures, l'\u00e9l\u00e9phant s'est dirig\u00e9 vers un camion charg\u00e9 de c\u00e9r\u00e9ales. Le t\u00e9moin a ajout\u00e9\u00a0: \u201d\u00a0Sans effort apparent, il a renvers\u00e9 le camion sur le bas-c\u00f4t\u00e9 et s'est mis \u00e0 manger.\u00a0\u201d.<\/p>\n

L'animal s'installa alors calmement sur le bord de la route pour continuer \u00e0 manger son repas, sans se soucier de la foule qui l'entourait.<\/p>\n

Des rapports indiquent que ces rencontres entre la faune sauvage et les usagers de la route sont de plus en plus fr\u00e9quentes dans la r\u00e9gion, des troupeaux d'\u00e9l\u00e9phants \u00e9tant r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement aper\u00e7us le long de la route nationale RN1, notamment pr\u00e8s du nouveau pont d'Heridogo.<\/p>\n

Les autorit\u00e9s locales et les associations de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 routi\u00e8re ont exhort\u00e9 les conducteurs \u00e0 faire preuve d'une extr\u00eame prudence et \u00e0 r\u00e9duire leur vitesse \u00e0 proximit\u00e9 des zones bois\u00e9es afin d'\u00e9viter les accidents.<\/p>\n

Le Burkina Faso abrite l'une des plus importantes populations d'\u00e9l\u00e9phants d'Afrique de l'Ouest, mais le d\u00e9clin des habitats naturels d\u00fb \u00e0 la pression humaine pousse ces animaux \u00e0 se rapprocher des routes et des zones agricoles.<\/p>\n

Il convient de rappeler que les \u00e9l\u00e9phants sont une esp\u00e8ce prot\u00e9g\u00e9e par la loi. Face \u00e0 la multiplication des incidents entre animaux sauvages et usagers de la route dans plusieurs r\u00e9gions d'Afrique de l'Ouest, il est de nouveau demand\u00e9 de renforcer la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 routi\u00e8re aux abords des zones foresti\u00e8res et de prendre des mesures plus efficaces pour limiter l'approche des animaux aux grands axes routiers, afin de garantir \u00e0 la fois la protection des vies humaines et la pr\u00e9servation de la biodiversit\u00e9.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
