Le jour de Madaraka est l'une des f\u00eates nationales les plus importantes du Kenya et est c\u00e9l\u00e9br\u00e9 le 1er juin de chaque ann\u00e9e pour comm\u00e9morer le jour de 1963 o\u00f9 le pays a obtenu son autonomie interne, marquant la fin de l'\u00e8re coloniale et le d\u00e9but du processus de construction de l'\u00c9tat kenyan moderne.<\/p>\n

Ce jour symbolise la libert\u00e9, l'unit\u00e9 nationale et les aspirations du peuple kenyan \u00e0 un avenir meilleur, car le mot \u201c Madaraka \u201d en swahili signifie \u201c pouvoir \u201d ou \u201c autonomie \u201d.<\/p>\n

Cette ann\u00e9e, l'attention se porte sur Wajir, une ville dont le nom est li\u00e9 \u00e0 d'importantes \u00e9tapes historiques de l'histoire du Kenya, et qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 le th\u00e9\u00e2tre des \u00e9v\u00e9nements tragiques de Wagala, qui ont profond\u00e9ment marqu\u00e9 la m\u00e9moire de la r\u00e9gion et de ses habitants.<\/p>\n

Apr\u00e8s des d\u00e9cennies de marginalisation, de faibles investissements publics et de peu d'attention port\u00e9e au d\u00e9veloppement, Wajir s'appr\u00eate \u00e0 \u00e9crire un nouveau chapitre de son histoire en accueillant pour la premi\u00e8re fois dans l'histoire de la r\u00e9gion la c\u00e9l\u00e9bration nationale de la Journ\u00e9e de Madaraca.<\/p>\n

Le choix de Wajir n\u2019\u00e9tait pas simplement une d\u00e9cision organisationnelle ou une occasion de c\u00e9l\u00e9bration \u00e9ph\u00e9m\u00e8re, mais comportait de profondes implications politiques et de d\u00e9veloppement, refl\u00e9tant un changement important dans la vision de l\u2019\u00c9tat pour les r\u00e9gions du nord du Kenya, et un message clair selon lequel l\u2019\u00e8re de la marginalisation doit c\u00e9der la place \u00e0 une nouvelle phase d\u2019inclusion, de reconnaissance et d\u2019int\u00e9gration nationale.<\/p>\n

Dans son discours prononc\u00e9 \u00e0 cette occasion, le pr\u00e9sident Ruto a soulign\u00e9 que la responsabilit\u00e9 de l'\u00c9tat ne se limite pas \u00e0 la simple c\u00e9l\u00e9bration de la libert\u00e9 acquise par le pays il y a plus de soixante ans. Elle englobe la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 de garantir \u00e0 chaque citoyen kenyan la pleine signification de cette libert\u00e9\u00a0: la libert\u00e9 de toute exclusion, marginalisation et discrimination\u00a0; la libert\u00e9 d'acc\u00e9der \u00e0 l'\u00e9ducation, \u00e0 l'emploi et \u00e0 l'\u00e9galit\u00e9 des chances\u00a0; et la libert\u00e9 de b\u00e2tir un avenir digne pour les g\u00e9n\u00e9rations futures.<\/p>\n

Le Pr\u00e9sident a soulign\u00e9 que, pendant des d\u00e9cennies, certaines r\u00e9gions du pays avaient \u00e9t\u00e9 qualifi\u00e9es d'isol\u00e9es, arides, marginales ou difficiles \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper, mais que le Kenya rejette aujourd'hui cette id\u00e9e. S'exprimant au nom de la nation, il a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 qu'aucune communaut\u00e9 n'\u00e9tait exclue du r\u00e9cit national, qu'aucun enfant n'\u00e9tait priv\u00e9 de perspectives de d\u00e9veloppement, qu'aucun citoyen n'\u00e9tait priv\u00e9 de son droit \u00e0 la dignit\u00e9 et qu'aucun comt\u00e9 isol\u00e9 ne m\u00e9ritait d'\u00eatre d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 et investi.<\/p>\n

Le pr\u00e9sident a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que Wajir n'est pas en marge du Kenya, mais fait partie int\u00e9grante du Kenya, soulignant que chaque partie du pays a sa place et son importance, de Busia \u00e0 Mandera, de Turkana \u00e0 Kwale, et de Kisumu \u00e0 Mombasa, car chaque citoyen kenyan a sa valeur et sa place dans la construction de la nation.<\/p>\n

Les messages du Pr\u00e9sident ne se limitaient pas \u00e0 l\u2019aspect symbolique, mais \u00e9taient accompagn\u00e9s d\u2019annonces importantes en mati\u00e8re de d\u00e9veloppement. Il a notamment confirm\u00e9 la poursuite des projets en cours \u00e0 Wajir et dans le nord du Kenya, y compris le d\u00e9veloppement des infrastructures et des services publics et l\u2019am\u00e9lioration des installations de l\u2019a\u00e9roport de Wajir afin de mieux servir les r\u00e9sidents et les visiteurs.<\/p>\n

Il a \u00e9galement annonc\u00e9 officiellement la cr\u00e9ation de l'Universit\u00e9 de Wajir, confirmant que le gouvernement avait allou\u00e9 les ressources n\u00e9cessaires et que le projet serait mis en \u0153uvre cette ann\u00e9e, appelant les populations de la r\u00e9gion \u00e0 coop\u00e9rer pour fournir des terrains appropri\u00e9s \u00e0 ce projet, qui contribuera au d\u00e9veloppement du nord du Kenya et ouvrira de nouveaux horizons aux g\u00e9n\u00e9rations futures.<\/p>\n

Ces annonces constituaient la preuve concr\u00e8te que le d\u00e9veloppement n'\u00e9tait plus seulement une promesse, mais qu'il \u00e9tait devenu une r\u00e9alit\u00e9 traduisant l'engagement de l'\u00c9tat \u00e0 int\u00e9grer des r\u00e9gions rest\u00e9es en dehors du cercle des int\u00e9r\u00eats nationaux pendant des d\u00e9cennies.<\/p>\n

Dans un moment \u00e9mouvant qui a suscit\u00e9 une attention consid\u00e9rable, le pr\u00e9sident a exprim\u00e9 ses sentiments \u00e0 propos de l'occasion, d\u00e9clarant qu'il avait particip\u00e9 \u00e0 de nombreuses c\u00e9l\u00e9brations de Madaraca au cours des derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, mais que la c\u00e9l\u00e9bration de Wajir \u00e9tait diff\u00e9rente, soulignant qu'il ressentait la profondeur de ce moment historique ainsi que les sentiments et les espoirs des habitants du nord du Kenya et leurs aspirations \u00e0 un avenir meilleur.<\/p>\n

Il a conclu son discours par un message empreint d'une grande port\u00e9e historique et humanitaire, en soulignant que ce que la r\u00e9gion avait connu par le pass\u00e9 en termes de marginalisation, d'exclusion et de souffrance ne devait plus se reproduire, et que l'avenir du Kenya reposerait sur la justice, l'\u00e9galit\u00e9 et le partenariat entre tous ses citoyens.<\/p>\n

L\u2019organisation par Wajir des c\u00e9l\u00e9brations de Madaraca 2026 n\u2019est pas seulement un \u00e9v\u00e9nement national, mais un moment historique charni\u00e8re dans le parcours du nord du Kenya, et un symbole de la transition de la r\u00e9gion des pages de souffrance et de marginalisation vers des horizons de reconnaissance, de d\u00e9veloppement et d\u2019int\u00e9gration nationale.<\/p>\n

Si le nom de Wajir a toujours \u00e9t\u00e9 associ\u00e9 \u00e0 des souvenirs douloureux par le pass\u00e9, il est aujourd'hui associ\u00e9 \u00e0 une image nouvelle et plus lumineuse\u00a0: celle d'une ville qui accueille toute la nation et affirme que le Kenya n'est complet qu'avec tous ses fils et ses filles, et que le d\u00e9veloppement, la dignit\u00e9 et les opportunit\u00e9s sont le droit de chaque citoyen, quelles que soient les circonstances, m\u00eame les plus difficiles.<\/p>\n
