Ces derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, le nom de l'ancien Premier ministre s\u00e9n\u00e9galais Ousmane Sonko est devenu un ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne politique et populaire de grande ampleur au S\u00e9n\u00e9gal, connu localement sous le nom de \u201d Sonkomania \u201d, en r\u00e9f\u00e9rence au large soutien populaire dont il b\u00e9n\u00e9ficie aupr\u00e8s de larges pans de la jeunesse s\u00e9n\u00e9galaise, notamment dans un contexte de crises \u00e9conomiques, de ch\u00f4mage et de col\u00e8re croissante envers les \u00e9lites politiques traditionnelles.<\/p>\n

La d\u00e9cision du pr\u00e9sident s\u00e9n\u00e9galais Bassirou Diom\u00eane Faye de limoger Sonko et de dissoudre le gouvernement a suscit\u00e9 une vive controverse dans le pays, sur fond de craintes d'escalade des tensions politiques dans l'une des d\u00e9mocraties les plus stables d'Afrique de l'Ouest.<\/p>\n

Qui est Osman Sonko ?<\/span><\/h4>\n

Sonko est consid\u00e9r\u00e9 comme l'une des figures politiques d'opposition les plus importantes au S\u00e9n\u00e9gal au cours de la derni\u00e8re d\u00e9cennie, ayant b\u00e2ti sa popularit\u00e9 sur un discours contre la corruption et l'influence \u00e9trang\u00e8re, notamment l'influence fran\u00e7aise, tout en adoptant un discours nationaliste africain qui a s\u00e9duit de larges pans de la jeunesse.<\/p>\n

Sonko a d\u00e9but\u00e9 sa carri\u00e8re comme ancien fonctionnaire des imp\u00f4ts avant d'\u00eatre limog\u00e9 apr\u00e8s avoir accus\u00e9 de hauts responsables de corruption, puis a fond\u00e9 le parti PASTEF en 2014.<\/p>\n

Lors de l'\u00e9lection pr\u00e9sidentielle de 2019, Sonko est parvenu \u00e0 se hisser \u00e0 la troisi\u00e8me place, devenant ainsi le plus jeune candidat pr\u00e9sidentiel de premier plan de l'histoire du S\u00e9n\u00e9gal moderne, avant de devenir par la suite la figure la plus influente de l'opposition s\u00e9n\u00e9galaise.<\/p>\n

Mais sa condamnation dans une affaire de diffamation l'a emp\u00each\u00e9 de se pr\u00e9senter aux \u00e9lections de 2024, il a donc soutenu son alli\u00e9 Basiru Dumai Fai, qui a ensuite remport\u00e9 la pr\u00e9sidence et l'a nomm\u00e9 Premier ministre.<\/p>\n

L'\u00e9mergence de conflits politiques\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

Malgr\u00e9 la solide alliance qui avait initialement r\u00e9uni les deux hommes, des divergences politiques ont progressivement \u00e9merg\u00e9 au sein du gouvernement, notamment concernant la gestion de la crise \u00e9conomique et les relations avec le Fonds mon\u00e9taire international, ainsi que les questions \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques et de dette et la ren\u00e9gociation des contrats p\u00e9troliers et gaziers.<\/p>\n

Selon des sources internationales, Sonko a \u00e9galement rejet\u00e9 certaines propositions \u00e9conomiques relatives \u00e0 la hausse des prix du carburant et \u00e0 la restructuration des dettes, ce qui a aggrav\u00e9 le diff\u00e9rend avec la pr\u00e9sidence.<\/p>\n

Sonko est particuli\u00e8rement populaire aupr\u00e8s des jeunes S\u00e9n\u00e9galais qui le consid\u00e8rent comme un symbole de changement politique et social, notamment apr\u00e8s des ann\u00e9es de manifestations contre le r\u00e9gime de l'ancien pr\u00e9sident Macky Sall.<\/p>\n

Son nom a \u00e9galement \u00e9t\u00e9 associ\u00e9 aux revendications de justice sociale, \u00e0 la lutte contre la corruption et \u00e0 la r\u00e9duction de l'influence \u00e9trang\u00e8re dans le pays.<\/p>\n

Les observateurs estiment que le limogeage de Sonko ne signifie pas forc\u00e9ment la fin de son influence politique, mais pourrait marquer le d\u00e9but d'une nouvelle phase de conflit sur la sc\u00e8ne politique s\u00e9n\u00e9galaise, notamment en raison des rumeurs croissantes concernant une possible candidature \u00e0 la prochaine \u00e9lection pr\u00e9sidentielle suite aux r\u00e9cents amendements \u00e0 la loi \u00e9lectorale, qui pourraient lui ouvrir la voie pour briguer la pr\u00e9sidence en 2029.<\/p>\n
