Museveni bids farewell to the US ambassador and affirms the strength of the partnership between Uganda and the United States.

Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni received outgoing US Ambassador to Uganda William W. Popp at the State Residence in Nakasero, in a farewell meeting that reflected the strength of the diplomatic relations between the two countries.  Uganda And the United States for decades.

A farewell meeting that reflects the depth of bilateral relations

During the meeting, President Museveni expressed his appreciation for Ambassador Bob's role throughout his tenure in Uganda, commending his efforts in strengthening bilateral cooperation and supporting political, economic, and developmental relations between the two countries. He affirmed that Ugandan-American relations have witnessed fruitful cooperation in numerous areas of mutual interest over the past years.

Praise for the diplomatic role of the US ambassador

The Ugandan President commended Ambassador Bob's contribution to strengthening communication and dialogue between the two governments, noting that effective diplomacy plays a pivotal role in promoting mutual understanding and pushing strategic partnerships to broader horizons.

For his part, the US ambassador expressed his gratitude to the Ugandan leadership and the Ugandan people for the cooperation he received during his tenure, stressing the importance of the existing partnership between the two countries and its continuation in serving common interests.

Discussion of joint cooperation files

The meeting included an exchange of views on a number of issues and topics of mutual interest, as well as discussions on future cooperation between Uganda and the United States. The two sides also addressed ways to strengthen their partnership in the development, investment, and trade sectors, in addition to regional and international issues requiring ongoing coordination and cooperation.

President Museveni affirmed his country’s commitment to continuing joint work with the United States to serve the goals of development, stability and prosperity in the region, stressing the importance of bilateral relations in confronting common challenges and enhancing opportunities for economic growth.

A message of appreciation and best wishes for the future

At the end of the meeting, President Museveni wished Ambassador William Pope success in his future diplomatic duties, expressing his appreciation for the services he provided during his time in Uganda.
