التقى الدكتور بدر عبد العاطي، Foreign Minister The Minister of International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad, Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel El-Wazir, Minister of Transport, met today with President Isaias Afwerki, President of the State of Eritrea, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries and exchange views on developments in the regional situation in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea region.

Minister Abdel-Aty conveyed President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi's greetings to his Eritrean counterpart, praising the deep-rooted historical relations between the two countries. He affirmed Egypt's full support for Eritrea in preserving its sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, and its keenness to enhance economic and trade cooperation with Eritrea in various fields to achieve the common interests of both countries through the establishment of bilateral cooperation projects. He highlighted that the visiting delegation included a number of businessmen and representatives of the private sector, which contributes to strengthening partnerships in a number of priority sectors, most notably mining, transportation, pharmaceutical industries, and fisheries, as well as supporting capacity-building and training programs to qualify Eritrean personnel in various sectors.

Regarding the security of the Red Sea, Minister Abdel-Aty stressed that the governance and security of the Red Sea remain the exclusive responsibility of the littoral states, as it is a strategic passage directly linked to the national security of those states, and no non-littoral parties may engage in arrangements or understandings concerning it, stressing Egypt’s support for the Eritrean vision regarding the management of the Red Sea, and what it included in terms of emphasizing the unity and sovereignty of the states bordering it.
في ذات السياق، استعرض الجانبان تطورات الأوضاع في منطقة القرن الأفريقي، حيث عرض الوزير عبد العاطي الرؤية المصرية إزاء تطورات الأوضاع في كل من السودان والصومال، مؤكداً موقف مصر الثابت تجاه الحفاظ على أمن واستقرار منطقة القرن الإفريقي، باعتبارها امتداداً مباشراً للأمن القومي المصري، وأهمية دعم مؤسسات الدولة الوطنية والحفاظ على وحدة وسيادة وسلامة أراضي دول المنطقة.
كما أكد الفريق مهندس كامل الوزير، الحرص على تعزيز التعاون مع إريتريا في مجالات النقل والبنية التحتية واللوجستيات، مشيراً إلى استعداد الجانب المصري لنقل خبراته في مجالات السكك الحديدية، والموانئ، والنقل البحري، بما يسهم في دعم جهود التنمية وتعزيز الربط الاقتصادي بين البلدين، مثمناً التوقيع على اتفاقية التعاون في مجال النقل البحري، وتسيير خط ملاحي للشحن يربط بين الموانئ المصرية والإريترية عبر البحر الأحمر والتي ستسهم في تعزيز التعاون الاقتصادي بين البلدين.
ومن جانبه، طلب الرئيس أفورقي نقل تحياته للرئيس عبد الفتاح السيسي، معرباً عن تقديره للدور المصري الفاعل في دعم أمن واستقرار منطقة القرن الإفريقي والبحر الأحمر، ومشيداً بعمق العلاقات التاريخية التي تربط البلدين، ومؤكداً حرص إريتريا على مواصلة تعزيز التنسيق والتعاون مع مصر في مختلف المجالات السياسية والاقتصادية والأمنية بما يحقق المصالح المشتركة للبلدين والشعبين الشقيقين.
كما أعرب الرئيس أفورقي عن حرص إريتريا على تعزيز التعاون مع مصر في كافة المجالات تحقيقاً للمنفعة المشتركة للبلدين.
كما شهد اللقاء تشرف الوفد الإقتصادي والتجاري المرافق للسيد وزير الخارجية ووزير النقل بمقابلة الرئيس أفورقي للتأكيد على الاستعداد التام للبدء في شراكات تجارية واقتصادية بين البلدين في مختلف المجالات الأمر الذي كان محلاً لتقدير الرئيس الإريتري.
