Egypt's exports to Africa are registering a significant increase: indicators reflect the scale of cooperation.

The African continent represents promising opportunities for Egyptian products that are now gaining traction. African marketsThis coincides with the entry into force of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement, prompting the Egyptian government to work on increasing exports to African markets.

This comes in light of the directives of Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh, the Egyptian Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, as official data revealed that the volume of Egyptian exports to Africa exceeded $8.7 billion during the past year.

Compared to last year’s exports, which amounted to about $7.4 billion several years ago, indicators confirm the increasing volume of Egyptian exports to African countries, amid expectations of a significant increase in figures during the next phase.

Among the most prominent countries that dominate Egypt’s exports to Africa are Sudan, Libya, Algeria, Morocco, Nigeria and Kenya, especially in the sectors of chemical products, building materials, food industries, fertilizers and medicines.

For years, transport and shipping lines suffered from significant weakness in the export process from Egypt to African markets, which posed major obstacles and challenges in the past, but these have been overcome during the current period.

Economic experts believe that the Egyptian government has begun establishing new logistics centers and direct shipping lines, through which it has worked to reduce shipping costs and arrival times.

Simultaneously, the Egyptian state aims to increase the number of exhibitions of its products in the African continent, and trade missions to increase the volume of trade, in addition to supporting small and medium companies wishing to export.

This stems from Egypt’s vision, which has Africa in its sights as a huge market with a population exceeding 1.4 billion, thus qualifying Egyptian products for growth and popularity in African markets.

The reduction of customs duties and the growing demand for Egyptian goods contribute to their good competitiveness compared to Asian and European products.

The most prominent African countries importing from Egypt

Libya tops the list of the largest importers from Egypt, with a value of $1.5 billion during 2025, according to a recent statistical report, continuing to maintain its position as the largest African market for Egyptian exports.

Algeria follows in second place with $1.2 billion, the West occupies third place with about $1.1 billion, while Sudan comes in with $957.1 million.

The report’s indicators reflect the growing volume of trade relations between Egypt and African countries in recent times, especially after overcoming the obstacles that stood between the Egyptian production line and the markets of the African continent.
