Tensions remain high in Nimule, South Sudan, after motorists staged a mass protest early this morning, following a bloody gang attack that killed one driver and seriously injured another.

According to eyewitnesses, suspected criminals, armed with swords, target drivers at night, ambushing and robbing them along major transport routes.

The latest attack sparked outrage among transport companies, leading to an immediate halt in transport traffic in the area.
The protest caused significant disruption to local transport services and business activities, bringing traffic to a standstill for several hours. Security forces were later deployed, and calm was restored to the area.
Calls for urgent intervention
So far, authorities have not issued an official statement regarding the incident or the ongoing security concerns.

Residents and drivers continue to demand urgent intervention to address the escalating insecurity along the road.
