Israeli bombing of Lebanon

Iran announced on Wednesday that it is preventing ships from passing through Strait of Hormuz The strait was closed to international shipping due to Israeli aggression against Lebanon and attacks launched by the occupation army on Beirut.

According to Iranian media, Iranian authorities halted the passage of oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz following the Israeli attack on Lebanon.

Ceasefire announcement between America and Iran

Iranian media indicated that after US President Donald Trump agreed to Iran’s conditions and declared a ceasefire between the two sides, two oil tankers were able to pass safely through the Strait of Hormuz with Iran’s permission.

Earlier on Wednesday, Ibrahim Rezaei, spokesman for the National Security Committee in the Iranian parliament, called for the closure of the Strait of Hormuz in response to the violent Israeli raids on Lebanon.

Rezaei said in a statement carried by Iranian media: In response to the aggression against Lebanon, the movement of ships in the Strait of Hormuz must be stopped immediately... Either a ceasefire on all fronts or no ceasefire on any front.

This comes at a time when an Iranian military source revealed that Tehran intends to target military installations inside Israel in response to its violation of the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon.

Israeli aggression against Lebanon

The Israeli occupation army launched its fiercest raids on Lebanon on Wednesday, targeting all its cities, including the capital Beirut, by carrying out 100 strikes in 10 minutes.

The Israeli occupation army claimed that the attack was based on accurate intelligence and a plan prepared weeks in advance, and that it targeted Hezbollah's elite units, missile systems, and drones.

Safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz in coordination with Iran

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated on Wednesday morning that safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz would be possible in coordination with the Iranian armed forces.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Tasnim news agency reported that Iran and Oman will impose fees on ships crossing the strait during the ceasefire period.

Shipping data showed limited traffic in the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday, after the United States and Iran announced a ceasefire.
