President Tshisekedi affirmed that Egypt and the Democratic Republic of Congo share strong historical ties and a growing partnership, and he appreciated the Egyptian support provided to his country in the areas of development, training and capacity building.

Tshisekedi praised Egypt’s efforts in supporting peace and stability in Africa, especially its efforts related to the situation in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, and stressed his country’s desire to expand economic and investment cooperation with Egypt.

The President of the Democratic Republic of Congo welcomed the agreements and memoranda of understanding signed today in the areas of investment, health, housing and political consultation.

He pointed to the importance of benefiting from Egyptian expertise in infrastructure and urban development, and stressed the continuation of coordination between Cairo and Kinshasa on African issues of common interest.

He affirmed the continuation of political consultations in the areas of transport, health, environment, tourism and investment, and several cooperation agreements were signed to link Kinshasa with Cairo for integration, exchange of experiences and the search for African solutions to African challenges.

He pointed out that Egypt’s support in the fight against the Ebola epidemic demonstrates the depth of the bonds of friendship and cooperation between African brothers, noting that the Democratic Republic of Congo possesses exceptional capabilities in mining, industry, environmental and digital transformation, and agriculture.

He added that it is necessary to link the private sector with the public sector and cooperate with entrepreneurs for further development and reconstruction, and that Africa must speak out louder, defend its priorities, and build a stronger and fairer system.

He concluded: “The visit confirms our desire to build a strong friendship and relationship for a shared vision that aims for an Africa capable of transforming its resources into a better life for its people.”.

The official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic stated that the reception ceremony included the honor guard saluting the visiting president, the playing of the national anthems of the two countries, and the taking of a commemorative photo, followed by a bilateral meeting between the President and the Congolese President, then an expanded session of talks in the presence of the delegations of the two countries, followed by a luncheon hosted by the President in honor of President Tshisekedi and the accompanying delegation.
