Intensive meetings for the Egyptian Foreign Minister on the sidelines of the Nairobi summit<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nDr. Badr Abdel-Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad, met with Therese Wagner, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Republic of Congo, where the Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed pride in the bilateral relations that unite the two countries, and the tangible development they have witnessed in recent years, expressing his aspiration to continue strengthening joint cooperation in various fields, especially economic and developmental ones, noting the preparations underway for the convening of the El Alamein Africa Forum scheduled to be held in El Alamein next June on the sidelines of the African Union\u2019s mid-year coordination summit.<\/p>\n
The meeting addressed the latest developments in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, where Minister Abdel-Aty affirmed Egypt's full support for all regional and international mediation efforts aimed at implementing a comprehensive political settlement that contributes to achieving stability in the Great Lakes region. He stressed the importance of linking the achievement of peace and the restoration of stability on the one hand, and the achievement of development and ensuring its sustainability on the other, within the framework of a comprehensive and integrated approach that includes all dimensions of the conflict \u2013 political, economic, military and developmental. In this context, he pointed to support for the implementation of this approach, especially in light of His Excellency the President of the Republic assuming leadership of the post-conflict reconstruction and development file at the level of the African Union, in addition to Egypt hosting the African Union Center for Post-Conflict Reconstruction and Development.<\/p>\n
Restoring inclusivity through the Nile Basin Initiative<\/h2>\n
Regarding water security, Minister Abdel-Aty stressed the importance of cooperation and integration in the Nile River to achieve common benefit and mutual interests, highlighting the importance of adhering to the spirit of consensus and brotherhood to restore inclusiveness in the Nile Basin Initiative, and rejecting unilateral actions, welcoming the positive developments in the NBI initiative\u2019s consultative process to restore inclusiveness in accordance with international law, in a way that achieves mutual benefit for all Nile Basin countries.<\/p>\n

Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad, met with Therese Wagner, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Republic of Congo, where the Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed pride in the bilateral relations that unite the two countries, and the tangible development they have witnessed in recent years, expressing his aspiration to continue strengthening joint cooperation in various fields, especially economic and developmental ones, noting the preparations underway for the convening of the El Alamein Africa Forum scheduled to be held in El Alamein next June on the sidelines of the African Union\u2019s mid-year coordination summit.<\/p>\n
The meeting addressed the latest developments in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, where Minister Abdel-Aty affirmed Egypt's full support for all regional and international mediation efforts aimed at implementing a comprehensive political settlement that contributes to achieving stability in the Great Lakes region. He stressed the importance of linking the achievement of peace and the restoration of stability on the one hand, and the achievement of development and ensuring its sustainability on the other, within the framework of a comprehensive and integrated approach that includes all dimensions of the conflict \u2013 political, economic, military and developmental. In this context, he pointed to support for the implementation of this approach, especially in light of His Excellency the President of the Republic assuming leadership of the post-conflict reconstruction and development file at the level of the African Union, in addition to Egypt hosting the African Union Center for Post-Conflict Reconstruction and Development.<\/p>\n
Restoring inclusivity through the Nile Basin Initiative<\/h2>\n
Regarding water security, Minister Abdel-Aty stressed the importance of cooperation and integration in the Nile River to achieve common benefit and mutual interests, highlighting the importance of adhering to the spirit of consensus and brotherhood to restore inclusiveness in the Nile Basin Initiative, and rejecting unilateral actions, welcoming the positive developments in the NBI initiative\u2019s consultative process to restore inclusiveness in accordance with international law, in a way that achieves mutual benefit for all Nile Basin countries.<\/p>\n
