During the meeting, the two sides discussed a range of issues related to developing political cooperation between the two countries, in addition to strengthening coordination on files of common interest.<\/p>\n

Views were also exchanged on regional and international developments, and their implications for security and stability in the region.<\/p>\n

The meeting emphasized the importance of maintaining communication channels between the two sides, which contributes to supporting stability in South Sudan and enhancing cooperation with Russia in various fields, especially in light of the security and development challenges facing the fledgling state.<\/p>\n

The dialogue also addressed joint efforts to support national institutions and enhance the state's capabilities in the areas of security and stability, which will improve internal conditions and support the development process.<\/p>\n

Political cooperation and support for stability<\/span><\/h3>\n

Russia supports the sovereignty of South Sudan and adopts the principle of \u201cnon-interference in internal affairs,\u201d which was clearly demonstrated by Moscow\u2019s official support for holding the general elections scheduled for December 2026.<\/p>\n

Russia also committed to providing technical support and training to those responsible for organizing the elections in Juba, in addition to ongoing coordination in international forums such as the United Nations to ensure the stability of the security and political situation in the country.<\/p>\n

Economic partnership and the energy sector<\/span><\/h4>\n

Economic cooperation between Russia and South Sudan focuses primarily on the oil and mining sectors, with South Sudan\u2019s national company, NilePet, in advanced talks with Russian oil giant Rosneft to develop oil fields and build new refineries.<\/p>\n
