The Ministry received Foreign Ministry<\/a> In South Sudan, a high-level delegation from the African Union Peace and Security Council African<\/a>He arrived in the capital, Juba, on an official visit aimed at supporting peace and stability efforts in the country.<\/p>\n

The delegation is headed by Ambassador Hirut Zemene Kassa, Permanent Representative of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the African Union and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa.<\/p>\n

The visit aims to hold consultations with the government on the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement, as well as to exchange views on the security situation and related regional issues.<\/p>\n

Upcoming meetings with the political leadership\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

The delegation is scheduled to hold a series of meetings with senior officials, including President Salva Kiir, as well as vice presidents and institutions of the 2018 peace agreement, in addition to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), and the Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission.<\/p>\n

The delegation seeks to conduct extensive consultations with various parties to assess the progress made in implementing the transitional tasks, especially in light of preparations for the upcoming general elections in December 2026, and to gather field information that will help guide the African Union\u2019s decisions on the next steps.<\/p>\n

In this context, Edmund Yakani, Executive Director of Community Empowerment for Progress, affirmed that the visit reflects the African Union\u2019s continued commitment to supporting peace, stressing the importance of engaging all parties that signed the agreement and promoting the implementation of the decisions of the African Union High-Level Committee (C5).<\/p>\n

This visit is an extension of regional and international efforts to support the peace process, including the recent visit of African envoy Jakaya Kikwete, as the parties seek to overcome current challenges and create conditions for free and fair elections that will enhance stability in the country.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
