<\/p>\nWilliam Samui Arap Ruto is the fifth President of the Republic of Kenya and one of the most prominent political leaders in East Africa. He was born on December 21, 1966, in Osin Gishu County, western Kenya, and grew up in a simple rural environment. From his early years, he was interested in education and public work, which later paved the way for his entry into the political field.<\/p>\n
Ruto effectively began his political career in the late 1990s, winning a seat in Parliament representing the Eldoret North constituency in 1997, through which he began to build his presence within the Kenyan political scene, and became one of the rising figures in public life.<\/p>\n

During his career, Ruto held a number of important government positions, most notably his appointment as Minister of the Interior at an early stage of his political life, then his assumption of the portfolio of the Ministry of Agriculture, where he played a role in food security and agricultural production files. He also served as Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, and contributed to education development policies.<\/p>\n
In 2013, he was elected Vice President of the Republic of Kenya, a position he held until 2022, where he was a key partner in running the affairs of state during the presidency of Uhuru Kenyatta.<\/p>\n
In the 2022 election, Ruto led an election campaign that focused on the economy, youth empowerment and improving living standards, representing the United Democratic Alliance party.<\/p>\n
He managed to win a competitive presidential race against his rival Raila Odinga, and was declared President of the Republic of Kenya in September 2022.<\/p>\n

Since taking office, Ruto has faced significant economic challenges such as high public debt, cost-of-living pressures, and tax reforms.
