<\/p>\nThe relationship between Egypt and Kenya represents a prominent model of African cooperation based on shared history, mutual interests, and a unified vision for the future. For more than six decades, the ties between the two countries have evolved from political support for national liberation movements to a comprehensive strategic partnership that includes the economy, security, development, and education.<\/p>\n
The strong relations between Cairo and Nairobi date back to the period before Kenya's independence, when Egypt, under the leadership of the late President Gamal Abdel Nasser, supported Kenyan resistance movements against British colonialism.<\/p>\n

Cairo played an important media and political role in supporting the Kenyan struggle, which left a deep mark on Kenyan political memory after independence in 1963 and the declaration of the republic in 1964.<\/p>\n
Following independence, formal diplomatic relations were established between the two countries, and the following decades witnessed reciprocal visits and cooperation in the areas of military training, exchange of expertise, and capacity building.<\/p>\n
This institutional cooperation has established a solid foundation for a long-term relationship based on mutual respect and political coordination on African issues.<\/p>\n
The two countries\u2019 joining African economic blocs, most notably the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), has contributed to strengthening trade and opening up broader prospects for investment in the agriculture, industry, infrastructure and energy sectors.<\/p>\n
Egyptian and Kenyan companies also seek to take advantage of the opportunities available in regional markets through this integration.<\/p>\n
Relations witnessed a qualitative leap with their elevation to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership during the visit of Kenyan President William Ruto to Cairo and his meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.<\/p>\n
The talks resulted in the signing of a number of cooperation agreements in the fields of politics, security, investment, education, technology, youth and women's empowerment, in addition to maritime transport and urban development.<\/p>\n

The relationship between Egypt and Kenya is not limited to the bilateral framework, but extends to coordinating positions on regional issues, especially those related to security in the Horn of Africa, combating terrorism, and supporting peace and development efforts on the continent. This coordination reflects the two countries\u2019 awareness of the importance of collective action to confront common challenges.<\/p>\n
