<\/p>\nUS President Donald Trump announced that US naval forces will begin intercepting all ships attempting to enter or leave the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n
Trump explained in a tweet on Truth Social: \u201cIran said it would open the Strait of Hormuz, but deliberately failed to do so. This has caused anxiety, turmoil, and suffering for many people and countries all over the world. They say they have laid mines in the water, even though their entire navy, and most of their mine-laying capabilities, have been completely destroyed.\u201d.<\/p>\n
He continued: \u201cPerhaps they did, but what ship owner would want to take that risk? It caused great shame and lasting damage to Iran\u2019s reputation, and to what remains of their leaders, but we are over all that now. As they promised, they must immediately begin the process of opening this international waterway and quickly! They are violating all existing laws.\u201d.<\/p>\n
He added: \u201dI was fully briefed by Vice President J.D. Vance, Special Envoy Steve Wittkopf, and Jared Kushner on the meeting held in Islamabad under the gracious and highly competent leadership of Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan. They are truly extraordinary men, and they constantly thank me for saving between 30 and 50 million people from what would have been a horrific war with India. I always appreciate hearing that\u2014the scale of humanity being discussed is unimaginable.\u201d.<\/p>\n

Trump continued: \u201cThe meeting with Iran started early in the morning and lasted all night \u2014 about 20 hours. I could go into a lot of detail and talk about many of the points that were reached, but there is only one thing that is important \u2014 Iran is not prepared to give up its nuclear ambitions! In many ways, the points that were agreed upon are better than continuing our military operations to their end, but all of those points are worthless compared to allowing nuclear energy to fall into the hands of volatile, difficult, and unpredictable people.\u201d.<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cMy three representatives, during all this time, unsurprisingly, became very friendly and respectful with the Iranian representatives, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Abbas Araqchi, and Ali Bagheri, but that doesn\u2019t matter because they were very rigid with regard to the most important issue, and as I have always said from the beginning and many years ago: Iran will never have a nuclear weapon!\u201d.<\/p>\n
Trump continued: \u201cSo, the meeting went very well, and most points were agreed upon, but the one point that really mattered\u2014the nuclear issue\u2014was not agreed upon. As of now, the United States Navy, the best in the world, will begin a blockade of any and all vessels attempting to enter or leave the Strait of Hormuz. At some point, we will reach a situation where everyone can come and go, but Iran has prevented that by saying, \u201cThere might be a mine somewhere,\u201d something no one else knows about. This is global extortion, and world leaders, especially those of the United States, will not accept being extorted.\u201d.<\/p>\n

The US president continued: \u201cI have also instructed our navy to search for and intercept any vessel in international waters that has paid fees to Iran. Anyone who pays illegal fees will not have safe passage on the high seas. We will also begin destroying the mines the Iranians have laid in the Strait. Any Iranian who fires on us or on peaceful vessels will be completely destroyed! Iran knows better than anyone how to end this situation that has already devastated their country. Their navy is finished, their air force is finished, their air defense and radar systems are useless, and Khamenei and most of their leaders are dead, all because of their nuclear ambitions.\u201c.<\/p>\n
Trump continued: \u201cThe blockade will begin soon, and other countries will participate in this blockade. Iran will not be allowed to profit from this illegal act of extortion. They want money, and more importantly, they want nuclear weapons. In addition, in due course, we are fully prepared, and our military forces will finish off the rest of Iran!\u201c.<\/p>\n
