Unmarried women often wear shawls tied around their shoulders, leaving their chests bare, while other women dye their braided hair red as a sign of respect for their fianc\u00e9. Kosa women also wear some form of head covering as a sign of respect for the head of the household, whether their father or husband. Elderly women are permitted to wear more elaborate head coverings due to their age. Kosa women are also known for frequently adorning their arms and legs with beads and copper bracelets, and some wear beaded necklaces.<\/p>\n

As for the men of Kossa, animal skin is an important part of their traditional clothing. Men often wear goatskin bags to carry necessities such as tobacco and a knife. The bag is usually made from skin that has been removed in one piece, treated without removing the hair, and turned inside out.<\/p>\n
On special occasions such as weddings or initiation ceremonies, Kosa men wear embroidered skirts with a rectangular piece of fabric draped over the left shoulder. They may also wear a vest and strings of beads, which are long necklaces of beads in various colors.
