<\/p>\nKenya and Norway discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and develop parliamentary cooperation between the two countries, in addition to discussing issues of common interest, foremost among them supporting peace and stability efforts in the East African region, especially in South Sudan.<\/p>\n
This came during a meeting between a high-level Kenyan official and the Speaker of the Norwegian Parliament, Masood Garahani, where the talks addressed prospects for strengthening Kenyan-Norwegian relations in various fields, and working to expand areas of joint cooperation in a way that serves the mutual interests of the two countries.<\/p>\n
During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening parliamentary cooperation as one of the main pillars for developing bilateral relations, stressing the role that parliamentary diplomacy can play in consolidating ties of friendship and mutual understanding between peoples, and supporting political and developmental partnerships between countries.<\/p>\n
The two sides also discussed ways to strengthen the principles of democratic governance and exchange experiences in legislative and institutional fields, in addition to supporting the joint development agenda between Kenya and Norway, in order to contribute to achieving sustainable development and enhancing political and economic stability.<\/p>\n

During the talks, the Kenyan side praised Norway\u2019s support for efforts to achieve peace and stability in South Sudan, stressing the importance of continued international and regional cooperation to address the challenges facing the East African nation.<\/p>\n
The Kenyan official noted that his country continues to play a constructive role in supporting dialogue and national reconciliation efforts in South Sudan, stemming from its commitment to promoting regional security and stability. He also affirmed that Kenya is working in coordination with regional and international partners to support sustainable peace efforts and encourage all parties to adopt peaceful solutions to their differences.<\/p>\n
The meeting reflects Kenya and Norway\u2019s keenness to expand bilateral cooperation to include political, development and parliamentary fields, as well as coordinating efforts on regional issues of common interest, foremost among them supporting stability in the Horn of Africa and East Africa.<\/p>\n
