The Egyptian delegation participating affirmed Egypt\u2019s support for efforts aimed at achieving financial sustainability within the African Union, with a focus on raising the efficiency of the use of available resources from member states, and working to rationalize spending in a way that ensures resources are directed towards development files and strategic priorities for the continent.<\/p>\n

Enhancing the effectiveness of the continental organization and its ability to implement programs<\/h2>\n

The Egyptian delegation stressed the importance of developing self-financing mechanisms for the African Union, in light of global economic challenges and the increasing financial pressures facing many African countries, in order to enhance the effectiveness of the continental organization and its ability to implement development, peace, security and economic integration programs.<\/p>\n

The Egyptian delegation participating from the mission of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the African Union included Third Secretary Ahmed Amir, Third Secretary Heidi Ahmed, along with Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim, Assistant Minister of Finance for Policies and Economic Affairs, and the Egyptian expert on the Committee of Fifteen Finance Ministers (F15), which is the committee concerned with following up on financial issues and economic reforms within the African Union.<\/p>\n
