Arsenal were crowned Premier League champions for the first time in 22 years, after Manchester City stumbled to a draw with Bournemouth in the decisive round of the competition.

This triumph brought an end to a long wait for Arsenal fans since the historic 2003/2004 season, in which the team won the title without a single defeat.

Pep Guardiola's Manchester City drew 1-1 with Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium, giving Arsenal an unassailable four-point lead with just one game left to play.

Arsenal won the Premier League title for the first time in 22 years, since the legendary unbeaten team won it in the 2003/04 season.

The club will celebrate its 100th season without relegation from the Premier League by winning the league title after achieving a record 28 wins, surpassing the previous record of 26 wins achieved by the undefeated team.

The defense prevented opponents from getting a shot on goal in six matches, equalling a league record that had stood for 23 years, and also set another record of 17 goals from corner kicks.

Mikel Arteta's strong side topped the table for most of the season before a slight late collapse. Manchester City's late surge almost threatened their ambition of winning the title for the second consecutive season, but their late comeback was initially stunned by Everton in early May, then completely collapsed against Bournemouth.

Guardiola's team visited the Vitality Stadium knowing that anything less than a win would secure Arsenal's title, but they lacked the effectiveness needed to achieve their goal, having conceded a superb goal from Junior Kruppy in the first half.

Manchester City were only kept in the game because Bournemouth wasted chances in front of goal, and when Erling Haaland scored the equalizer in the dying moments of the game, even the most devoted City fans realized it was too little, too late.

Arsenal and Arteta secured the league title earlier than they expected.

This league win is Arteta's second major trophy with the North London club since joining in December 2019, adding to the FA Cup he won within six months of taking over in May 2020.

The 44-year-old Spaniard is aiming for his fourth title overall, and could win his fifth – and third major – if he beats Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final next weekend.
