Sierra Leonean President Julius Maada Bio and Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara arrived in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, a short while ago to participate in the summit.Africa Onward 2026, which is being held in partnership between Kenya and France, as part of strengthening cooperation between the two sides.

Officials expressed their hope that the summit would yield fruitful results, including the establishment of a new and integrated framework for cooperation between the African continent and France, supporting partnerships in the areas of development, economy and regional integration.
The summit will see broad participation from officials and government representatives from African countries and France, to discuss ways to enhance joint cooperation in various strategic sectors.
The Egyptian Deputy Foreign Minister is touring a number of African countries.
In a separate context, Ambassador Mohamed Abu Bakr, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriate Affairs in Africa, conducted an extensive diplomatic tour that included a number of African countries, aimed primarily at promoting Egypt’s hosting of the African Union’s mid-year summit, scheduled to be held in the new city of El Alamein.
This comes as part of strengthening Egypt’s leading role within the African continent. Ambassador Abu Bakr chose the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, to be the first stop on his tour, which reflects the depth and special nature of the bilateral relations that unite Cairo and Nairobi, and the shared keenness to coordinate positions on major continental issues.
Strengthening economic partnerships
The visit was not limited to the political and organizational aspects of the upcoming summit, but focused intensively on the economic file, as the ambassador held a series of high-level meetings, starting with a meeting with Regina Akoth-Ombam, Undersecretary of the Kenyan Ministry of Trade, and Carol Kariuki, CEO of the Kenyan Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA). The discussions addressed mechanisms for enhancing trade and investment cooperation between the two countries, and opening new horizons for investors in both markets.
