Habib Mohammed Osman, the Chargé d'Affaires of the Eritrean Embassy and the embassy's media and cultural advisor in Cairo, described "Africa Day" as a great day to celebrate the identity and brotherhood that unites the peoples of the African continent, stressing that Cairo University's hosting of this event demonstrates the leading role and responsibility that the Egyptian state assumes towards its brothers on the continent.
New economic beginning
In exclusive statements to “Zoom Africa News”, on the sidelines of Egypt’s celebration of Africa Day at Cairo University, Osman revealed that there is a great movement to develop the economic partnership between Asmara and Cairo to keep pace with the excellence that relations are witnessing on the political track.
He noted that the recent visit of the Egyptian Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Transport to Eritrea was an important turning point in the course of bilateral cooperation.

Activating the joint shipping line
Advisor Habib Mohamed Osman highlighted the agreement that took place during the visit to launch a (bilateral) shipping line linking Egypt and Eritrea, saying: “This line represents a strategic pillar that will stimulate trade and facilitate the exchange of goods and products between the two countries, which we consider a very good agreement that will lead to tangible results in the near future.”.
Future aspirations
The Eritrean Chargé d'Affaires concluded his remarks by expressing his optimism about the future of relations, stressing his country's aspiration for economic and trade cooperation to witness a major leap that meets the aspirations of both peoples, emphasizing the importance of building on the current political momentum to create a sustainable economic partnership that benefits the Nile Basin and Horn of Africa region.
