French press reports have revealed worrying developments regarding the organization of the Africa Cup of Nations. CAF report raises concerns about readiness
According to the French newspaper Le Monde, the report of the African Football Confederation delegation that visited the three countries expressed clear concern about the slow pace of construction and renovation work, whether in stadiums or infrastructure related to transportation and reception.
The report indicated that Uganda faces significant challenges, as it currently does not have any stadium that meets the CAF-approved Category 4 standards, which threatens its ability to host matches.

Kenya is also facing significant delays, particularly with the “Talanta Stadium” project in Nairobi, which was supposed to be completed by the end of 2025, in addition to concerns regarding the Moi Sports Centre.
In contrast, Tanzania appears to be the most committed of the three countries, with preparations proceeding according to schedule, earning it a positive assessment from African Football Confederation officials compared to the other host countries.
Alternative options are available.
According to the report, the current situation is pushing CAF to study alternative plans, with South Africa emerging as the most prominent candidate to host the tournament if the organization is withdrawn, in addition to Rwanda’s readiness to enter the hosting line.
CAF officials are expected to hold a strategic meeting with the three host countries to discuss the latest developments in preparations, where each country will provide an update on the progress of work and implementation plans for the coming period, in a step that may ultimately determine the fate of hosting the tournament.
