The Sessi Islands, an archipelago of 84 islands, are located in the northwest Lake Victoria In Uganda, it is one of the country's most prominent tropical tourist destinations, thanks to its white sandy beaches, dense tropical forests and rich biodiversity of birds, making it an ideal haven away from the hustle and bustle of the mainland.
The Sese Islands in Uganda are a charming tropical destination in Africa.
There are two main routes to reach the islands. The most common is by taking the daily passenger and vehicle ferry (MV Kalangala) from Nakyogo Marina in Entebbe, a journey that takes approximately 3 to 4 hours. Alternatively, the islands can be reached via Pukakata, near Masaka, using a free vehicle ferry to Loko Marina on Bogala Island.

Boggala Island is the largest and most developed within the archipelago, representing the administrative center of Kalangala Province. It boasts better infrastructure compared to the other islands, along with banking services and a range of beachfront tourist resorts.
Among the most prominent accommodations in the area are Victoria Forest Resort, Sissy Habitat Resort, and Proud Sands Lodge, which attract visitors seeking relaxation amidst nature.

Tourist activities on the islands include relaxing on the beaches, exploring the Central Lutopoka Forest Reserve which is home to more than 300 species of birds and a number of primates, as well as boat trips and quad bike tours.
In the context of guidance, visitors are advised to carry sufficient cash in the local currency (Ugandan shillings) due to the limited availability of ATM services outside major cities, and to adhere to safety procedures while swimming due to the presence of crocodiles and hippos and the possibility of contracting bilharzia, as it is preferable to swim only within designated areas.
It is also recommended to take precautions against malaria and insects by using an effective mosquito repellent and updating preventive medications before traveling, given the tropical nature of the islands.
