Kenya emerged as one of the most prominent participants in the competition, with 3 teams qualifying for the Huawei Global Competition finals in Shenzhen, China, and returning home crowned with major awards.
The most notable achievement For the Kenyan stateThe Cloud Computing Track team won the Grand Prize, the highest prize in the competition, and the first prize Kenya has won since joining in 2019.
The Networks Track team also won second prize, while the all-female computing team from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology also won second prize and received the prestigious Women in Technology Award.

This remarkable success reflects years of thoughtful investment in digital infrastructure, skills development, and innovation.
This success confirms that Kenya has the expertise needed to build a sophisticated cloud computing infrastructure, artificial intelligence systems, cybersecurity capabilities, and the basic digital infrastructure required by a modern economy.
Digital Highway Program
To support this vision, the government expanded its Digital Highway program, deploying an additional 37,000 kilometers of fiber optic cables, establishing hundreds of digital centers, training more than 1.9 million Kenyans in digital skills, and contributing to the creation of more than 350,000 digital jobs.
We have also digitized 25,000 government services, compared to only 350 services in 2022.
