French President Emmanuel Macron is preparing for a visit Egypt Next week, as part of strengthening bilateral relations and Francophone cooperation, the new campus of Senghor University in Borg El Arab will be inaugurated.
The campus is built on an area of 10 acres, gifted to the university by the Egyptian government, and includes Facilities An integrated educational and service facility that includes two academic buildings, an administrative building, a conference hall, and accommodation and service facilities.
The campus also contains four student residences, in addition to staff and visitor accommodation, as well as state-of-the-art sports facilities including a gymnasium, swimming pool, multi-purpose court, and squash courts, which enhances the quality of the educational environment and supports the university’s role in preparing African talent.
A model of Egyptian-Francophone partnership
The new campus represents an advanced model of partnership between Egypt and French-speaking countries, as it was designed according to the latest academic standards to be an integrated center for education and scientific research.
The campus includes modern classrooms, a state-of-the-art library, and cultural and sports facilities, enabling the university to expand its capacity and double the number of students, in support of the Sustainable Development Goals in the African continent.

The new campus currently has 143 students from the twentieth cohort (2025–2027), distributed across four main departments including Culture, Environment, Management, and Health.
These departments are divided into eight disciplines related to sustainable development, including cultural heritage management, nature reserve management, governance, project management, international nutrition, and public health.
Supporting education and cooperation
This step comes in the context of cooperation with the International Organization of the Francophonie, which Egypt joined in 1970 and which currently includes 88 countries, the largest proportion of which are African countries.
The organization focuses on promoting cultural and linguistic diversity, supporting education and scientific research, as well as promoting peace, democracy and economic development.
Senghor University is an international French-speaking institution that aims to prepare leaders capable of meeting the development challenges in Africa and Haiti, through specialized master's programs.
The university receives approximately 200 students annually from more than 25 countries, and has a wide network of 17 branches and 50 partner universities.
The university has graduated more than 4,000 students from 43 countries, reinforcing its role as a leading institution in building African capabilities.
Egypt has hosted the university's headquarters for more than three decades, since it was founded in 1989 in Alexandria under an agreement with the Francophone Agency, with the aim of supporting African development through the training of specialized human resources.
