Ghana and Switzerland discuss strengthening political and economic cooperation in Accra
Ghanaian-Swiss talks to expand cooperation on climate and sustainable agriculture

Hosted GhanaThe tenth session of political consultations between Ghana and Switzerland took place in the capital, Accra, in a move that reflects the two countries' keenness to strengthen bilateral relations and expand areas of joint cooperation in political, economic and development issues.
The Ghanaian delegation was headed by the Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Khadija Idrisu, while the Swiss delegation was headed by the Deputy State Secretary and Head of the Africa Department at the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, Philippe Stalder.

The meetings were attended by senior officials from both sides, who discussed ways to develop bilateral cooperation, exchanged views on regional and international developments, and explored new prospects for strengthening relations between the two countries.

In her opening remarks, Ambassador Khadija Idrissou praised the role played by Ambassador Philippe Stahlder during his previous tenure as his country's ambassador to Ghana, stressing that relations between Accra and Bern are based on strong bonds of friendship and shared values, including support for peace, security, democracy, pluralism, and the rule of law.
She added that the political consultation mechanism represents an important platform for maintaining ongoing dialogue and enhancing cooperation between the two countries, noting that Ghana and Switzerland will continue to work together on a number of issues of common interest, including strengthening resilience to climate change, sustainable agriculture, and supporting local governance.
She also affirmed that Swiss companies operating in Ghana continue to contribute to supporting economic cooperation between the two countries, in a way that achieves mutual interests, noting the importance of mutual visits at various levels in deepening bilateral relations and maintaining political and diplomatic communication channels.
For his part, Ambassador Philipp Stalder affirmed the strength of relations between the two countries, explaining that a significant number of Swiss citizens reside in Ghana, which reflects the strength of the ties between the two peoples.
He noted that the high-level visits exchanged between the two sides have contributed significantly to the development of bilateral relations, stressing that Switzerland views political consultations as a key platform for assessing the level of existing cooperation and joint work on issues of mutual interest.
At the conclusion of the meetings, both sides renewed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations and expanding areas of cooperation in a way that serves the interests of both countries.
