Kenyan President William Ruto expressed his satisfaction with the continued progress in the construction of the Bumas International Conference Centre (BICC), stressing that the project represents an important step in enhancing the capital Nairobi’s position as a leading destination for conferences and events in East and Central Africa.

The new center aims to enhance Nairobi's regional standing and increase tourist numbers.

Following his inspection of the project's progress, Ruto said he chaired a meeting to review implementation rates and address the most significant challenges that could hinder the project's completion, stressing the need to provide sufficient and reliable energy infrastructure to ensure the center's efficient operation immediately upon completion of construction.

He added that the new complex, once completed, will contribute to enhancing Kenya’s ability to host major regional and international conferences and events, supporting the business and tourism sectors and strengthening Nairobi’s position on the global conference map.

The Kenyan president explained that the project will meet the modern requirements of the conference industry, and will help increase the number of visitors to more than 5 million tourists, in addition to generating revenues exceeding one trillion Kenyan shillings by 2028.

Ruto stressed that the government continues to work on accelerating the pace of project implementation, ensuring its completion according to the specified timelines and achieving the desired economic and tourism goals.
