The Egyptian Opera House commemorates the passing of the great musician Mohamed El Mougy by organizing an exceptional musical evening to be held at 7:30 pm on Friday, June 26, on the main stage.
This artistic celebration comes under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and as part of its ongoing efforts to revive authentic musical and vocal heritage, and to remind new generations of the symbols of art and creativity who shaped the Arab conscience.
A selection of stars led by Maestro Mohamed El Mougy
The distinguished artistic evening will be led by Maestro Dr. Mohamed El-Mougy, and will include a selection of the most famous and timeless melodies that the late musician presented to the leading singing stars in Egypt and the Arab world, which formed prominent landmarks in the history of Arabic music and carved their place in the hearts of the masses.
These distinguished masterpieces will be performed by a brilliant selection of young operatic voices and renowned stars, including Mohamed El-Toukhy, Ahmed Effat, Radwa Saeed, Noha Hafez, Farah El-Mougy, Hanan El-Khouly, and Angham Mostafa. The artists will compete in presenting a fresh artistic vision of the authentic Eastern melodies crafted by the late genius with his unique vision.
Reviving musical heritage and preserving artistic identity
This evening is part of the Egyptian Opera House’s ongoing efforts to revive the heritage of music and singing icons, and to introduce their great artistic contributions to new generations, in addition to preserving Egyptian and Arab musical heritage and presenting it in a way that highlights its superior artistic and human value.
This celebration also confirms the high status that the musician Mohamed El Mougy occupies as one of the most prominent creators of Arabic song in the twentieth century, whose melodies extended to nourish the careers of giants of Tarab such as Umm Kulthum, Abdel Halim Hafez and Fayza Ahmed.
Extended artistic activity of the Alexandria Opera Company
In an artistic context related to the creative movement of opera, the Egyptian Opera House hosted during the past few days a new distinguished concert by the Alexandria Opera Company for Arabic Music and Singing, led by Maestro Hazem Al-Qasabji, at 7:30 pm on the stage of Sayed Darwish Theatre (Alexandria Opera).
The concert included a carefully selected selection of the most famous old Arabic songs that formed landmarks in the history of authentic music, and received a wide response from the Alexandrian audience.
