The Republic of Chad celebrated on Monday the 25th anniversary of the discovery of the skull of “Tomai“The site, which is one of the oldest known pieces of evidence of human ancestors and is estimated to be about 7 million years old, was a major scientific event that enhanced the country’s standing on the map of archaeological and anthropological discoveries.
The ceremony was presided over by the President of the Republic and Head of State, Marshal Mohamed Idriss Deby Itno, in the presence of the Prime Minister, Ambassador Almaie Halina, the President of the Senate, Dr. Haroun Kabadi, and the President of the National Assembly, Ali Koloto Tchime, along with a number of senior state officials and members of the government, and a group of researchers and specialists in paleontology.

The event featured a documentary showcasing the stages of the discovery of the “Toumai” skull, the efforts made by the scientific teams involved in the research operations, and the role played by the Chadian government in supporting the scientific missions and providing the necessary facilities, which contributed to achieving this discovery that is of great importance in the study of human evolution.
The discovery of Toumaï, which took place in 2001 in the Djurab desert of northern Chad, is one of the most important discoveries in the history of paleontology, as it represents an important milestone in understanding the early stages of the development of the human race, and gives Chad a distinguished place in the record of global scientific discoveries.
In another context, the Chadian authorities continue to tighten their measures to confront environmental crimes and protect vegetation cover, after announcing the arrest of eight people suspected of involvement in cutting down large quantities of green trees in the Guera region, confirming that they have been referred to the judiciary to take the necessary legal measures, within the framework of efforts to reduce violations against natural resources.
This came during a press conference overseen by the government's general delegate to the region, General Abdullah Ibrahim Siam.
The ceremony to present the suspects took place in the presence of Member of Parliament Zahra Nazal Banatin, Secretary of the Regional Council Sessions Safia Masari Awada, Governor of the province Michel Golsea Tuca, along with a number of administrative and security officials.
General Abdullah Ibrahim Siam confirmed that the suspects will be referred to the judiciary to take the necessary legal measures against them and hold them accountable for the acts attributed to them.
