Ambassador Rasha Suleiman, Ambassador Egypt Sierra Leone had a fruitful meeting yesterday, Wednesday, with Dr. Musa Tifa Bayo, the head of the Immigration Department.

The meeting focused on clarifying the new procedures for obtaining residence permits after the mandatory inclusion of the National Identity Number (NIN).
Facilitating residency procedures in Sierra Leone
Ambassador Suleiman emphasized the embassy's commitment to ensuring a smooth transition for Egyptian citizens residing and working in Sierra Leone through the adoption of the unified digital permit platform. Dr. Bayo provided a brief explanation of the data linkage between the National Civil Registry Authority (NCRA) and the Immigration Service to enhance security and improve service efficiency.
Discussing the situation of the South Sudanese community in Egypt
In a separate context, the capital, Cairo, witnessed an important diplomatic meeting that brought together the South Sudanese Ambassador to Egypt, Kual Nyok Kual Arop, and Ambassador Yasser Sorour, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director of the Sudan and South Sudan Department, to discuss the situation of the South Sudanese community in Egypt and the challenges it has faced recently.
The meeting was held on April 26, 2026, at the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Cairo, with the South Sudanese Ambassador accompanied by Consul Pamela Albert. The meeting was characterized by a friendly atmosphere reflecting the depth of bilateral relations between the two countries, and a shared commitment to strengthening cooperation and addressing obstacles facing their citizens.
Discussion of the community's situation
The discussions focused on the situation of the South Sudanese community residing in Egypt, particularly in light of recent measures that have affected some of its members. The two sides discussed the challenges related to legal residency and ways to streamline procedures while ensuring respect for Egyptian laws and taking into account the humanitarian and social circumstances of the community.
