Tanzania celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Dar es Salaam Trade Fair
This golden jubilee is not just a commemoration of five decades of trade and commercial promotion, but also a confirmation of Tanzania’s growing influence on the regional and global scenes, at a time when the country seeks to strengthen its position as an influential economic and commercial hub in East Africa and beyond.
At the heart of this transformation stands President Samia Salouho Hassan, who has positioned SabaSaba as a powerful platform for economic opportunity, inclusive growth, and international engagement. Her leadership has reshaped the business landscape by fostering a more conducive business environment, advocating for its modernization, and expanding public-private partnerships.
Under her leadership, SabaSaba has evolved into a dynamic exhibition that not only showcases products but also supports innovation, adaptability and resilience, in line with Tanzania’s aspirations for a more diversified economy and greater openness to global markets.
The Golden Jubilee represents a significant achievement for the Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade), which over the course of fifty years has successfully built a strong reputation and a competitive platform that has contributed to supporting trade and investment and enhancing Tanzania’s presence on the international economic stage.
Over the past decades, SabaSaba has evolved into a key platform connecting local producers with international markets, showcasing Tanzania's industrialization goals, and supporting economic diversification. The fair has become a symbol of national pride, a catalyst for entrepreneurship, innovation, and productivity, and a magnet for investors and business partners from around the world.
In preparation for this year’s grand celebration, the Director General of the Tanzania Trade Development Authority, Latifi Kinana, and his team worked tirelessly to ensure a world-class event that reflects the growing stature of the exhibition and the role it plays in supporting the national economy.

Preparations focused on updating the infrastructure, upgrading facilities, and streamlining the exhibition's digital programs and logistics, ensuring a more efficient and professional experience for participants and visitors.
The improvements included upgrading water and electricity systems, enhancing safety procedures, and developing digital infrastructure, to ensure a seamless experience for exhibitors and visitors alike, and to solidify SabaSaba’s position as one of the leading trade fairs in the African continent.
As the Golden Jubilee celebrations begin, SabaSaba continues to play its role as a platform that combines trade, investment and innovation, reflecting Tanzania’s ambitions to enhance its global economic presence, based on a fifty-year legacy and a vision for a more prosperous and open future.
