Strong relations... Mali's Foreign Minister participates in the Egyptian Embassy's celebration of the July 23 Revolution

On Thursday, July 23, 2026, the Malian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdoulaye Diop, participated in the ceremony commemorating the 74th anniversary of the July 23, 1952 Revolution, organized by the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Bamako, at the invitation of the Egyptian Ambassador to Mali, Mohamed El-Gamal.
The Minister of Employment and Vocational Training also participated in the celebration, along with the Secretary General of the Ministry of Defense and Veterans, and a number of members of the diplomatic corps, financial officials, and political and military figures.
On this occasion, Minister Abdoulaye Diop, on behalf of the President of the Transitional Period, General Assimi Goïta, and the Malian government and people, conveyed his warmest congratulations to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, and the Egyptian government and people, wishing Egypt continued security, stability and prosperity.
The development of relations between Mali and Egypt
Diop affirmed that relations between Mali and Egypt are witnessing continuous development, praising what he described as the ”distinguished historical relations” that unite the two countries, and the bonds of brotherhood, mutual respect, and fruitful cooperation in various fields that are based on them.
He pointed out that the high-level reciprocal visits between officials of the two countries in recent years have contributed to giving a new impetus to bilateral relations, not only at the political and diplomatic level, but also in the areas of economic and trade cooperation, within the framework of a shared vision based on solidarity, mutual respect, and the achievement of common interests.
The Malian Foreign Minister also praised the role played by the Egyptian Ambassador in Bamako in strengthening bilateral relations, appreciating his efforts in expanding areas of cooperation between the two countries.
Progress in cooperation between Mali and Egypt in the fields of defense and security
On the security front, Diop highlighted the progress made in cooperation between Mali and Egypt in the fields of defense and security, stressing that this cooperation has been strengthened through the exchange of experiences, training programs, and capacity building of the Malian armed forces and security forces, which contributes to supporting Mali’s efforts in confronting security challenges.
The Finance Minister’s participation in the celebration of Egypt’s National Day comes in the context of growing relations between Bamako and Cairo, which in recent years have witnessed expansion in the fields of defense and security, education, training, health, agriculture, and trade, in addition to the continued coordination and political consultation between the two countries on regional and African issues of common interest.
