A horrific traffic accident occurred in the city of Koudougou in Burkina Faso on Thursday, June 18, 2026. It claimed the life of Rose Yunlewidraogo, a nursing student who was about to graduate from the National School of Public Health in Koudougou.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred in the Burkina Faso region, near the Otam station, past the local Bank of Africa branch. Reports indicate that a speeding truck lost control after a sudden maneuver, veered off course, and crashed into a shop.
At that moment, the victim, who was riding a motorcycle in the opposite direction, found herself in front of the huge truck that sped off at full speed.
As a result of the force of the collision, the motorcycle went under the truck, causing a very dangerous impact that sparked panic among the residents.
Upon receiving the report, national fire crews immediately intervened to rescue the victims. The nursing student and the truck driver were transported to the regional hospital in Koudougou. Despite her rapid recovery, Rose Younley Ouédraogo succumbed to her injuries a few hours after the accident.
Fortunately, the affected store was unoccupied at the time of the incident, but the human toll remains devastating and tragic. The National School of Psychiatry confirmed the death of the nursing student in a statement, prompting deep sorrow within both the health and education sectors.
The victim's body was laid to rest on Friday, June 19, 2026, in the Kodougou municipal cemetery, amidst an atmosphere of grief that enveloped her family and the people of her town.
