Talks between Egypt and Ghana to strengthen relations and consult on continental issues

A telephone call took place between Badr Abdel-Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad, and Samuel Ablakowa, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ghana, on Sunday, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations and exchange views on issues of common interest.

Minister Abdel-Aty praised the positive development in Egyptian-Ghanaian relations across various fields, stressing the importance of continuing to work on strengthening economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries, maximizing the benefit from available opportunities and encouraging the involvement of the private sector and Egyptian companies in supporting national development plans in Ghana, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, energy, agriculture and education. He also noted the importance of continuing cooperation in capacity building through training programs organized by the Egyptian Agency for Partnership for Development.

The call also addressed prospects for cooperation in the health and pharmaceutical sector, with Minister Abdel-Aty affirming Egypt’s commitment to continuing to support its African brothers in facing health challenges, and to building on the existing cooperation between the two countries in the field of pharmaceutical industries and the transfer of expertise, reviewing what Egypt can offer in terms of support and expertise based on the advanced capabilities it possesses in the fields of healthcare and drug manufacturing.

In the same context, the two ministers exchanged views on a number of African issues, with Minister Abdel-Aty affirming Egypt’s full support for efforts to combat terrorism in the West African and Sahel regions, stressing the need to adopt a comprehensive approach that combines the security and development dimensions to confront this scourge. The two ministers agreed to continue coordination and consultation to support peace, security and stability in the African continent and to enhance development efforts and continental integration.
