The Tanzanian government has officially announced that it will host the Miss World beauty pageant in 2027, in a historic move that puts the country at the heart of international cultural and tourism events.
This event is seen as a strategic opportunity to showcase modern Tanzania and enhance its presence on the global tourism map and the conferences and exhibitions industry.
Official signing and political and tourism messages
The announcement was made during an official ceremony in Dar es Salaam attended by Minister of Information, Culture, Arts and Sport Paul Makonda and officials from the international competition organization.
The government stressed that hosting goes beyond the celebratory aspect, becoming a major promotional platform for the tourism and investment sectors, and a message of confidence in the readiness of the country’s infrastructure and organizational capabilities.

A regional precedent in East and Central Africa
This is only the second time the competition has been held on the continent after South Africa, but the first time in East and Central Africa. This geographical advantage gives Tanzania a symbolic edge and reinforces its position as an emerging destination for hosting major international events.
Global presence and direct economic impact
More than 130 contestants from around the world are expected to participate, with television coverage and digital broadcasting reaching millions of viewers.
Thousands of visitors, including media professionals, tourists, and those interested in the fashion and beauty industry, are expected to flock to the area, directly impacting the hospitality, aviation, and services sectors and creating temporary and permanent job opportunities.
A platform for cultural exchange and humanitarian work
The organization's president, Julia Morley, emphasized that "Miss World" is not just a beauty pageant, but a humanitarian and cultural initiative that fosters understanding between peoples. The program includes parallel events such as fashion shows, talent competitions, and charitable activities, giving the event a social dimension that resonates with Tanzania's cultural diversity.
Promotional window for tourism and national identity
Tanzania is banking on leveraging media momentum to promote its natural and cultural assets, from wildlife to coastlines and historical sites.
The Miss World 2027 competition is expected to become a global platform showcasing national identity and supporting the country's tourism brand in the long term.
With this hosting, Tanzania enters a new phase of international presence, where major events become effective tools for economic development and cultural promotion simultaneously.
