President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi met today with President Lula da Silva, President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, on the sidelines of his participation in the G7 summit.
The official spokesman for the Presidency stated that the meeting addressed the entirety of bilateral relations between Egypt and Brazil, with the President expressing great pride in the historical relations between the two countries.
He affirmed Egypt’s keenness to strengthen these relations and all existing consultation frameworks between the two sides. He also particularly appreciated the ongoing joint efforts to implement the provisions of the strategic partnership agreement signed between the two countries in November 2024, noting the remarkable growth witnessed in trade exchange between the two countries in recent years.
Ambassador Mohamed El Shenawy, the official spokesperson, added that President Da Silva expressed his pleasure at meeting again with the President, welcoming the momentum in the relations between the two countries, especially since Egypt is Brazil’s most important trading partner in the African continent.
The Brazilian President also praised the growing cooperation frameworks between the two countries after Egypt joined the BRICS group, as well as the strategic partnership agreement and the free trade agreement between Egypt and the Mercosur group, stressing the need to continue working to increase the volume of trade exchange between the two countries, despite it recently exceeding $5.5 billion.
The official spokesperson noted that the two presidents also discussed joint cooperation in international forums. For his part, the Brazilian president expressed his appreciation for Egypt's and the Egyptian president's efforts to restore stability in the Middle East.
He emphasized his country's support for Egypt's approaches, which prioritize reaching peaceful, sustainable, and comprehensive solutions to the crises in the Middle East and Africa. At the end of the meeting, the two presidents agreed to continue coordination and consultation at all levels between their countries in the coming period.
