Cairo strengthens its presence in Africa through new partnerships with Zimbabwe
Egyptian-Zimbabwean cooperation to promote development and build national capacities

Within the framework of strengthening bilateral relations between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Republic ZimbabweAmbassador Dr. Maha Serag El-Din, Egypt’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe, held a meeting with the Vice President of Zimbabwe, Dr. Kembo Mohadi, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in various political, economic and developmental fields.
Egyptian-Zimbabwean cooperation to promote development and build national capacities
During the meeting, the two sides discussed prospects for developing bilateral relations in a way that enhances common interests and contributes to supporting development efforts in Zimbabwe, through expanding areas of technical cooperation, training and capacity-building programs, as well as encouraging partnerships between government institutions and the private sector in both countries.

The Zimbabwean Vice President expressed his appreciation for the historic role played by Egypt in supporting his country’s struggle against colonialism, praising the continuous development of bilateral relations in recent years, especially in the areas of technical cooperation and the transfer of Egyptian expertise in multiple sectors, including public administration, human development and infrastructure.
The Zimbabwean official stressed the importance of benefiting from the Egyptian experience in the areas of capacity building and developing national cadres, as it is one of the essential elements for advancing the economic and social development process in Zimbabwe, noting that his country looks forward to expanding areas of cooperation with Cairo in the next stage.
For her part, the Egyptian ambassador affirmed the depth and strength of the historical and fraternal relations that unite the two countries, whether at the bilateral level or within the framework of coordination within regional and international forums, noting Cairo’s keenness to enhance its presence in the African continent and expand its partnerships with the countries of the South.
The ambassador also reviewed Egypt’s preparations to host the African Union’s mid-year coordination summit, scheduled to be held in El Alamein, in addition to organizing an African Business Forum on the sidelines of the summit during the period from June 25 to 27, 2026, explaining that the forum represents an important platform to enhance economic cooperation between African countries and open up broader horizons for the private sector.
The ambassador expressed her hope for active participation from the Zimbabwean private sector in the forum's activities, which would contribute to enhancing investment opportunities and economic integration between the two countries, and support the continent's efforts to achieve sustainable development.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides renewed their commitment to continue coordination and consultation, reflecting the strength of Egyptian-Zimbabwean relations and their shared desire to push cooperation towards broader horizons in the coming period.
