Uganda is preparing to hold a huge graduation ceremony for 10,000 new police officers on Friday, June 26, 2026, at the police training school in Kabale, Masindi District, after they successfully completed the nine-month basic training program for recruits.

This event is one of the largest security graduation ceremonies in the country in recent years, representing an important step in the Ugandan government's efforts to strengthen the police force's capabilities and raise its readiness to face increasing security challenges.

President Museveni is the guest of honor

The ceremony is scheduled to be presided over by Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who will participate as the chief guest of honor, in a clear affirmation of the importance the state attaches to developing and supporting security institutions with qualified personnel.

The president is expected to deliver a speech to the graduates and senior government and military officials, during which he will review the role of the police in maintaining stability and promoting national security, as well as the importance of discipline and professionalism in performing security duties.

Intensive training to build a new generation of security personnel

The new batch of recruits underwent an intensive nine-month training program, during which they received diverse knowledge and skills including methods of maintaining security, enforcing the law, dealing with crimes, and crisis management, in addition to physical and military training aimed at enhancing efficiency and professional discipline.

The program also focused on instilling values of integrity, responsibility, and respect for citizens’ rights, in line with the requirements of modern policing.

Enhancing security and development in Uganda

The graduation ceremony represents the formal transition of these recruits from the training phase to the active service phase within the Ugandan police force, where they will be tasked with contributing to the maintenance of public order, the protection of lives and property, and the fight against crime throughout the country.

Observers believe that the addition of 10,000 new personnel to the police force will enhance the security services' ability to respond to growing security challenges, especially in areas experiencing population growth and increasing economic activity.

With this large batch entering service, Uganda continues to invest in building more efficient and professional security institutions, considering security and stability as a fundamental pillar for supporting economic and social development and achieving the state’s future goals.
