The President of the Republic arrived Somalia The Federal Government, headed by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, is traveling to Uganda to participate in the swearing-in ceremony and inauguration of Ugandan President-elect General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who is preparing to begin his seventh consecutive term.
The official inauguration ceremony is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Kololo Independence Ground in the Ugandan capital, Kampala, in the presence of a number of heads of state and regional and international officials, in an event expected to see wide participation from leaders of East African countries and the African continent.
Uganda holds Museveni inauguration ceremony amid broad regional and international attendance
Upon his arrival at Entebbe International Airport, the Somali President was received by the Prime Minister of Uganda, Mrs. Robinah Nabanga, along with the Somali Ambassador to Uganda, Firdawsa Mohamed Qanyari, and the Ugandan Ambassador to Somalia, Sam Tulia Muhika.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s participation in the inauguration ceremony comes within the framework of the growing bilateral relations between Somalia and Uganda, and the ongoing coordination between the two countries on security, political and development issues, especially in light of the role played by Uganda within the African Union Mission to Support Stability in Somalia.
The inauguration of President Museveni for a new term is seen as a significant political milestone in the East African region, given Uganda’s regional role in security, stability and economic cooperation within the continent.
The visit is expected to include side meetings between the Somali president and a number of leaders and officials participating in the inauguration ceremony, to discuss ways to enhance joint cooperation and exchange views on regional issues of common interest.
The event is receiving extensive media coverage both inside and outside Uganda, given the regional and international interest in President Museveni's inauguration ceremony and his continued political presence in leading the country for a new term.
