New details emerge in the attempted assassination of the President of Madagascar... What happened?

An assassination attempt against the President of Madagascar using drones.

The Attorney General of Madagascar announced the thwarting of a plot to assassinate the country's president, confirming that security services succeeded in uncovering the plan before its implementation after monitoring suspicious movements and conducting thorough intelligence surveillance.

He explained that the authorities arrested 11 people suspected of involvement, while investigations continue to identify all potential accomplices, both inside and outside the country.

These developments come after the presidency in Madagascar announced the thwarting of an assassination attempt targeting President Mikael Randrianireina and his wife, after five drones were spotted flying over the presidential residence, before jamming systems forced them to withdraw.

Harry Laurent Rahadzason confirmed that these aircraft were not equipped with weapons, but carried infrared surveillance devices to monitor movements inside the headquarters, noting that an official investigation into the incident had been opened.

In a related context, the Defense and Security Forces called on citizens to remain calm and avoid any behaviors that might threaten stability, in a rare joint statement in which senior military and security officials participated, including the Minister of the Armed Forces and officials from the Army, Gendarmerie and Police.

General Razavitimbo stressed the need to respect the existing order and ensure the progress of the national dialogue, warning against attempts to incite sedition through social media.

For his part, the Minister of the Armed Forces called for expressing opinions in peaceful ways and promoting dialogue based on mutual respect, stressing that military institutions are not a tool to serve personal or political interests.

Meanwhile, authorities continued arrest campaigns related to attempts to destabilize the country, with a number of suspects detained, including four young men, two of whom were released for health reasons.
