Supporting the economy... Alubo praises the opening of the Environmental Education Center in Mbil

The Vice President praised Republic of UgandaJessica Alubo, inaugurating the Environmental Education Center in Mbil, described the move as an important milestone in promoting environmental awareness and supporting sustainable development efforts in the country.

Alubu’s remarks came during her participation as a guest of honor at the center’s opening ceremony, where she affirmed that the city of Mbil possesses unique qualities that combine a rich cultural heritage with promising tourism potential, making it an ideal location to host this vital project.

She explained that the center will contribute to raising environmental awareness among citizens, supporting research activities, and creating new job opportunities, which will enhance economic growth in vital sectors such as tourism, agriculture, and industry.

Protecting the environment is a collective responsibility.

The Vice President called on all Ugandans to embrace environmental protection as a collective responsibility, stressing the importance of joining forces to achieve national transformation and build a sustainable future for generations to come.

She expressed her appreciation for the efforts of the Uganda Wildlife Authority, local leaders, district commissioners, security agencies, including the Uganda People’s Defence Forces and the police, as well as cultural leaders, the media and the people of Mbil, for their role in supporting environmental protection and enhancing services provided to the community.

Aloobo concluded her speech by emphasizing that preserving the environment is a fundamental pillar for ensuring a better future, under the slogan: “Protection for Generations.”.

In another development, Uganda Airlines signed an agreement with Boeing to purchase 10 new aircraft worth approximately $985 million.

The deal includes four Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners for long-haul flights, four Boeing 737 MAX aircraft for regional flights, as well as two freighters dedicated to cargo transport operations.

The agreement was signed at the presidential palace in Entebbe in the presence of President Yoweri Museveni.
